How to do 5m "horizontal" valley

Just finished 4 of the same in Middlesex. We used 0.4mm stainless steel. The whole thing weighs less than 20kg and is guaranteed for over 100 years. To avoid the condensation issue I would bituthene the valley first, always good practise. £500 cash supply and fix including lifetime guarantee.

    Leaking roof(s) help please

It could be covered in stainless steel with a separate flashing chased into the wall and up and under the tiles. It could also be covered in lead or rubber butvi'm not sure there is a cheap DIY option with something like this.

Hi, yes we've completed a few roofs in East Barnet. We do not normally provide scaffolding so I wouldn't feel confident employing a local firm that I have no previous knowledge of. If you're satisfied with the firm for the chimney repair then they might be best for the scaffolding for the roof...

    Short term fix of Leadwork

Cheap solder is made of tin and lead. Tin is a hard metal and lead is a soft metal. The tin content stops the solder from adhering to the lead and at different rates of expansion and contraction the bond will eventually break. You should never need to solder lead and there is often an...

    Short term fix of Leadwork

You can't solder lead. You have to weld it with Oxy Accetaline bottles. The short term bodge would be mastic lead sealant. If you got someone in to weld the split they could charge £250 so the £600 seems reasonable. That's a long piece of lead so should be split into several pieces, if it...

Hi. I'm not sure how zinc compares in price but you would receive a lifetime guarantee if completed by ourselves. London is within our catchment and a rough estimate would be around £2000 for the size quoted. Hope this helps.

Hi there, the cost of supplying and installing the zinc would be around £3000 plus vat. As for the insulation you have lots of options- you can fit as much as possible in between the joists and as much as possible on top of the roof but this is where costs can escalate. Zinc can be fitted...
