    Garden light connections

Hmm.. The supply is located under my fountain in a dry place. 5m won't cut it for the distance thou. I thought they would be connected in series? Also, when you say a proper 12v power source. Do you have any examples?

    Garden light connections

    Ahh fair enough, that'd explain a bit! They're 12V, these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291700501818?var=590728195423

    Garden light connections

I've got a set of garden lights that all come with VDE cable on them. Can someone explain how to connect these? I've seen some T-junction style plugs/junction boxes on images, but I can't seem to find anything or anyway to connect the lights. Suggestions?

    Low throughput on taps?

Dismantled the other tap and etc. There was a load of gunk in the pipe which I can only assume was "leaked" jointing compound.. Anyway, stuck a new tap on with new plumbing - hot water flow is nowhere near as fast as the cold and the mixing area is more towards the hot side, but its a major...

Best hinge for heavy timber gate

I've built a gate for the side of our house and its very heavy. Its framed using 38mm x 85mm timber, and 100mm x 22mm panels for the front. Overall its 1100mm wide and will be attached to a gate post anchored to a brick wall. I'm trying to figure out what hinges will be best to use here, from...

    Low throughput on taps?

I can't guarantee that, although it very well could be! I have a wet vac, but its a carpet cleaner and doesn't have a detachable head

    Low throughput on taps?

Kitchen Sink Tap is a Franke Coxy: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Franke-115-0185-417-Chrome-Finish-Kitchen/dp/B00O2XTBII It's not a low pressure one either (1.0b) , but the cold is fine and the hot is acceptable. The downstairs toilet has a low pressure tap (0.2b) and both the hot and cold come...

    Low throughput on taps?

Quick preface. Gravity fed system. Both used to be fine, now aren't. Sink Tap The tap on the sink is actually a high pressure one, and the hot water throughput was fairly bad. Went to swap it for a low pressure tap, new tails were a few mm short so have had to fit the old tap again until I...

    Bathroom downlights have no earth?

Correct, but then surely a block connector attached to piece of metal prevents it from being class 2. Since screws can come loose over time etc? Anyway, I've routed around and managed find the following: All lights apart from the shower cubicle one (left) have Class 2 markings on them...

    Bathroom downlights have no earth?

There are no markings on it, but since this is quite literally a GU10 connector into a 2 core, I'd say they're not but I could well be wrong I'll get a photo in a second. This one isn't above the shower and its one I replaced with an LED a while back as the halogen failed. The one above the...

    Bathroom downlights have no earth?

Ah good spot, I completely missed that on the spec sheet. I have the M Pro for above the shower which is where there is only a 2 core flex. Regardless of this though, it'd still like to see how they actually wired the lighting in the bathroom up as sticking a GU10 lamp holder above the shower...

    Bathroom downlights have no earth?

Which is why the bathroom is out of use and the lights are down until I can find the original T&E. A job for tomorrow morning I am not looking forward too The old lamp that was in there was a standard GU10 lamp holder - not IP rated, no fire hood and no earth.. The glass on the bulb has...

    Bathroom downlights have no earth?

This is what I also have. Although come to think of it, I thought this was standard on all downlights. Even the cheap ones from B&Q that are IP22 have them

    Bathroom downlights have no earth?

I understand what you're saying, however The lights have a seal on the bezel for this. I have never seen that before, even in one of my friends new builds when we were in the loft. Just your standard bathroom downlights

    Bathroom downlights have no earth?

I think it's a case of generalisation more than anything. How many times have you heard, or probably even said something relating to a Hoover, when in fact it's a vacuum cleaner.

    Bathroom downlights have no earth?

If we want to get technical, GU10 bases are commonly 240v and a GU5.3 base is commonly 12V. My bulbs are GU10 and are 240V. Have you honestly ever heard anyone ask for a GU5.3? If you ask anywhere, even specialists for an MR16 bulb, you'll get given a 2 pin GU5.3

    Bathroom downlights have no earth?

I can access the T&E for 2 of the lights, but the shower one seems to be either pinned or fixed to something. I can't get into the void above though unfortunately. Looking at the wiring, they aren't linked directly together so I can only assume they fall back to a JB somewhere...which I can't...

    Bathroom downlights have no earth?

I'm not surprised at all by this, surprised they didn't burn the place down the amount of stuff we found when renovating.. I've found the T&E for the other 2, but the one above the shower. It's either clipped in somewhere or fixed into a jb. Only issue is I cant get into the void...
