    Electrical ring off a ring..?

I've recently begun ripping out a converted (previous owner DIY bodge) garage conversion as the plasterwork in there needs redoing, however upon doing so, I think I've discovered something nasty. I believe that the original socket in the garage was a spur off a kitchen socket. What I've...

Wooden post on top of double skin wall

That's pretty much what I thought, just seemed a bit 'manual' Will have a look around to see if I can find a 5" square plate to raise it off the coping. I take it you don't sit it flush and seal it then?

Wooden post on top of double skin wall

At the moment, our porch has a piece of timber in one corner that supports the overhanging porch roof. We're having a double skinned half height wall put up to enclose it a bit, and having the old timber swapped out with a 5" Oak Post. Builder called tonight to explain that where the post...

    Garden light connections

Two 1.5mm wires aren't going to go through my waterproof gland, if they're in a rubber sheath then it'll seal. A design like this wont work: https://www.led-supplies.com/led-drivers/led-drivers-waterproof/led-driver-waterproof-ip65-constant-current-8w-9w/

    Garden light connections

Nope. I've had to go terminate the SWA at a socket, and then plug the transformer into that

Wiring momentary switch with a home automation bridge..

OK so its "working" I seem to have to push the switch numerous times to get it to toggle. Nothing wrong with the connections as have tested and works each time. Likely something up with the module itself then! Gah

    Garden light connections

Armoured cable is ran to the transformer, and then rubber 2 core from the transformer to the lights. What came with the transformer is the same. Essentially the same as "pond" cable but without the earth

Wiring momentary switch with a home automation bridge..

Its the FGS-212 Relay Switch Module. The way it is currently works is that when the button is pushed, it disconnects.

    Garden light connections

The light units themselves came with 5m tails, using 2 x 0.75mm cable. I have used the same cable throughout. There are then 10 3.5W MR16 LED bulbs in each unit. The driver has some weight to it, I'd say probably heavier than the power bricks on laptops, but about 1/4 of the size. It's only a...

Wiring momentary switch with a home automation bridge..

I'm on the verge of sending this back as I am convinced its faulty, however I just wanted to check this through with anyone else who may have used these. Below are the instructions from the manual: As you can see below, I have wired this in the correct way (im 99% sure) Now, the switch I...

    Garden light connections

Not as far as I'm aware. Its a 12V 5A, 60W driver. I'm not sure on any more specifics that that as I haven't got it in front of me. Looks like I'll be sourcing another one. Anyone have any good suggestions? Ideally could do with one I can wire into a fused spur

    Garden light connections

Finally got this all setup and power up. Looks great given the garden has no plants etc in it really. The only issue is the sodding LED driver died after about an hour! It's a 60W driver which should be sufficient given I've only got 10 3.5W LEDS...

12v outdoor lighting rubber sheathed cable?

Does anyone know where I can get this on a Sunday? I've searched Screwfix, Toolstation, B&Q and I am struggling to find it. It's for 12V garden lights which all have 2x0.75mm tails on them, however I need more of it to go from the LED driver. I tried the 3 core version, however it doesn't fit...

    Garden light connections

Thanks SFK. The answer I was looking for. All of my posts (in fact, it seems all posts in electrics) get derailed..

    Garden light connections

Its not the driver im particularly bothered about. Most of them don't come with those connectors, but I could do with them to save faffing with junction boxes. I just cant seem to find them. I've used these on my car in the past, however I dont think they're suitable to be buried for 12v...

    Garden light connections

Ah yes sorry. Still, this leaves me wondering how i am going to connect them. I need to get at least 10m away due to the shape of the garden. The LEDs are about 6w each. does it not matter if the driver is 100w and there are 10x 6w bulbs, the furthest away will still be the dimmest?
