Unless you've already had the ground checked independantly you'd normal dig to the 1m depth assuming normal foundations. Depending on what you find, 1m may be enough. If you need deeper, worry then.

I would assume the ensuite would need obscure glass and building control often restrict openings on bathrooms which may affect your fire escape option. You would also likely need some kind of mechanical ventilation for the ensuite. Removal of any wall sockets. As above.... Might make resale...

Depending on when their extension was built, it'll likely have deepish foundations anyway; you may only need to go as deep as theirs which shouldn't cause any issues.

If you mean because of getting the digger around the back, you can get diggers that go through a doorway. Without a digger, you're stuck with handheld breakers, spades and if the ground is tough a pick-mattock.

The existing house has a timber frame where the cladding is, not too sure about the insulation arrangements. Do you reckon carry on with the brickwork, scrap the render idea on the extension?

I hate the cladding, it's gotta go but not sure i could have it bricked up. Someone on the street has removed and rendered theirs, looks a lot better.
