No, it doesn't go to the time setting screen - it just behaves as if nothing has happened - including putting the heating on at completely the wrong time of the day. That's the gripe... If it did nothing and sat there asking for the time to be set, then that wouldn't be too bad.

Hi Does the VRC470 have a battery backup for the clock? Every time the power goes off, mine resets to 9AM on 01/01/2010 - which is a pain. None of the programming or other settings are lost, just the time and date. Is it faulty? Cheers, Steve

The two white wires go to the lampholder so it doesn't matter which way round they go.

Connect your incoming Live, Earth and Neutral to the bottom three terminals. Put the black wire back in the top left terminal. The two white wires go in the two top right terminals (one to the black one, the other in the same terminal as the existing blue wire)

We do, yes. The water dispenser in the fridge is fed with unsoftened water via a cartridge filter. All other water is softened (including what we put in the kettle / coffee machine). If it was practical, I would have done this, but my garden is the opposite side of the house to the incoming...

Have you done what was suggested and put the red and brown wires into the same terminal (leaving the blue one taped up)?

Mount it upside down ;)
