    Vaillant VRC470 clock battery?

We have aluminium supply cables which seem to fail every other week. Instead of replacing them in full (which would probably have saved a fortune over the years), they patch it up each time something breaks... Never mind. Anyway... next time someone's near a system with a 470, I'd be...

    Vaillant VRC470 clock battery?

No, it doesn't go to the time setting screen - it just behaves as if nothing has happened - including putting the heating on at completely the wrong time of the day. That's the gripe... If it did nothing and sat there asking for the time to be set, then that wouldn't be too bad.

    Vaillant VRC470 clock battery?

So... Should the boiler have a battery backup for the clock then? Is mine faulty?

    Vaillant VRC470 clock battery?

With the eBus disconnected, the display goes completely dead. When you reconnect it, it sits there saying booting for about 30 seconds before coming back to life. So it definitely doesn't have any local power backup. I must admit that I was surprised that the clock appears to be in the...

    Vaillant VRC470 clock battery?

Left the VRC470 unplugged from eBus for an hour, plugged it back in and the clock was correct. Turned the boiler off at the mains for 20 mins, and the clock was then wrong. So it looks like the real-time clock is in the boiler not the 470 which seems odd, but not entirely unexpected I...

    Vaillant VRC470 clock battery?

Definitely pressing OK. I'll do some more testing later. I'm wondering if it just has a capacitor and only stays running for a relatively short time. I disconnected the eBus last night for about 20 minutes and the time was still correct when I reconnected it. I might try an hour tonight just...

    Vaillant VRC470 clock battery?

Sorry for the confusion. I am the OP and I have a VRC470 (eBus powered) not the wireless 470f. Basically, after a power cut I have to reset the clock every time. I'm reasonably sure this is not expected behaviour? It's a bit rubbish if it is...

There are no replaceable batteries in the VRC470?

    Vaillant VRC470 clock battery?

Hi Does the VRC470 have a battery backup for the clock? Every time the power goes off, mine resets to 9AM on 01/01/2010 - which is a pain. None of the programming or other settings are lost, just the time and date. Is it faulty? Cheers, Steve

    Nightbrite 300W PIR floodlight wiring

The two white wires go to the lampholder so it doesn't matter which way round they go.

    Nightbrite 300W PIR floodlight wiring

Connect your incoming Live, Earth and Neutral to the bottom three terminals. Put the black wire back in the top left terminal. The two white wires go in the two top right terminals (one to the black one, the other in the same terminal as the existing blue wire)

Flashing Led Bulbs when Switched on

I've just seen the other thread. You have lamps with GU10 holders connected to transformers? That's not right. It would be far better if you kept all this in one thread...

Flashing Led Bulbs when Switched on

BAS, he says they flash when on, not off - which is the usual issue. Have you wired them in series instead of parallel by any chance?

Salt block water Softeners, worth it or waste of money?

We do, yes. The water dispenser in the fridge is fed with unsoftened water via a cartridge filter. All other water is softened (including what we put in the kettle / coffee machine). If it was practical, I would have done this, but my garden is the opposite side of the house to the incoming...

Salt block water Softeners, worth it or waste of money?

They are 100% effective. I've had one for twelve years and have never cleaned a shower head or descaled an appliance in all that time! The shower door looks like it did the day I fitted it. The one I have is a water powered dual cylinder unit - which is great as the supply of softened water...

Bathroom light switch - can you fix it?

Have you done what was suggested and put the red and brown wires into the same terminal (leaving the blue one taped up)?
