    Unvented cylinder system - repair?

Just an update - Finally I think we're sorted. We got the EV replaced, and since then things have been stable. There's not been any water leaking via the tundish. So in the end it looks like it was the EV all along. Thanks for your advice and info...

    Thanks that makes sense.

    Daylight on roofspace?

Thanks. Will get someone out to properly assess. At the moment i'm assuming that's the damaged area? (window cleaner didn't take more photos to see where that sits in relation to the vent etc). Would I be right to think that its odd to see this type of damage on the tile? Can't imagine this...

    Daylight on roofspace?

Window cleaner was over and had him take a peek. No obvious missing tile(s) but he did notice the following - roof tile Zooming in it does look like some damage with hole? No idea how this could have happened. But does seem to correspond to what I'm seeing inside the loft area huh? - loft...

    Daylight on roofspace?

Its really refreshing to hear this so of thing. Love the idea of donating for a good cause, but unfortunately i'm not local - up in Scotland. I'm suspecting there aren't many other companies doing this type of thing, and will likely charge. 450 is definitely a scam...but reckon something in...

    Daylight on roofspace?

Wow £60 sounds too cheap! I was expecting something in the region of at least £150-250 min? Like you i'm not overly keen in those trading platforms for posting jobs. Just not sure who get and their experience etc. Different if it was just a paint or cleaning job. I found some companies with...

    Daylight on roofspace?

Regarding ladders, can only think of the window cleaner next time he's around. Exactly my concerns as it may have been years unnoticed until now. We don't use the loft for storage, so rarely even go up there, and only really discovered till now :( As a new build (2014), isn't the overlapped...

    Daylight on roofspace?

Are your a roofer by trade? Probably need to give a roofer a call to come out and check? Or if the window cleaner comes i could ask him to have a peek and take a photo. My only concern is that I'm not sure how long its been like this, and critically if there would be an impact over that period...

    Daylight on roofspace?

There are no roof vents. Unfortunately its difficult to get a good external photo of the roof side of our house (due to the proximity of the neighbouring house). However, having looked at another house of the same type and layout - external roof. You can see the side roof does not have any...

    Daylight on roofspace?

Hi, Looking to get some advice and thoughts on this one. I was taking a look in the loft recently and accidently came across an area on the roof space where there was obvious daylight shining through? No other areas in the roof space appear to show daylight only this particular area. As far as...

    Unvented cylinder system - repair?

Seems a bit intermittent but certainly this morning and last night (i.e. 7am / 7pm hot water schedule) water passed via the tundish as before (cold) through the new combination valve. Not sure why previous days it didn't do that.

    Unvented cylinder system - repair?

No sure i followed... But over the last few days, very different behaviour in the heating schedule. Its scheduled 7am for 2hrs and 7pm for 2hrs. In the past it's always leaked within 10-20mins of heating. I've not noticed any leak over the last few days? really odd.

    Unvented cylinder system - repair?

Originally i tried pushing the pin with my nail without much happening. Then decided to use a chopstick and managed to push the pin in more for a second, but again nothing. Note that the system was still pressurised while doing this. They did attempt to pump up the EV yesterday. At which point...

    Unvented cylinder system - repair?

No filling valve is closed off to the boiler system - as you can see. The tundish has been leaking consistently since Jan when i noticed this. Even after fitting the new group valve i was still getting the same cold water leak in the tundish when hot water heats up. Yesterday they took the pipe...

    Unvented cylinder system - repair?

Hi, Just tried pressing the schrader pin for air. And i can confirm there's NOTHING!? This coincide with what the engineer told me yesterday, that there's no pressure. But I'm now more confused with what is going on now. As I said, this morning i no longer noticed any leaking of cold water via...

    Unvented cylinder system - repair?

So are you saying for me to get the tundish leaks (6bar on expansion valve) then the EV would had to have been as low as 1.2bar? and hence, what we're suggesting is that the original measured air end pressure on the EV of 2.8bar was completely wrong (and likely to be far lower!). Also, when they...

    Unvented cylinder system - repair?

We had the HW Cylinder and EV serviced back in Jan. Gave me the impression that the EV was fine, it was just under 3bar and he topped things back up to the pre-charged 3.5bar or there abouts. The EV is a 24litre Aquasystem. And the HW cylinder is a 250Litre. At the time of the service, I...

    Unvented cylinder system - repair?

I have just had confirmation that the discharge is from the expansion valve from the group inlet. Its not from the TPR valve. My engineer has now change his tune and advised me that the expansion vessel is faulty (i.e. no air). In one hand i'm pleased to know that this is the route cause, but...

    Unvented cylinder system - repair?

Hi, Just a quick update. I ended up getting the entire group valve replace (i.e. group valve - pressure reducing valve, expansion valve, check valve etc). Unfortunately it did not fix my issue and we still getting water via the tundish as the hot water heats up. In the meantime, having...

    Unvented cylinder system - repair?

Thanks. So coming back to my original posted question. It does sound like that the correct course of action is to replace the expansion safety valve (6bar one) on this combination group. As the expansion valve is suppose to be available as an individual cartridge. Finding this isn't easy, but...
