    pump problem?

about every couple of months the pump on my vented system doesn't pump. So I undo the chrome screw and then turn the inside screw with a screwdriver to free it. The other thing that I notice is that there is a thin arc of water coming from within the centre of the inside screw. I thought...

    noisy boiler

the fan light on the boiler is on and I do hear the normal fan noise so I presume yes. The pump vibrates slightly and a little warm but I can't tell whether it's working. I presume it was the noisy boiler tripping the electricity because when we switched the boiler off, the electricity...

    noisy boiler

I have a baxi solo 3 PFL 70 boiler. It was very noisy yesterday, sounded like someone drilling. When I lowered the thermostat on the bolier, the noise was decreased by 50%. By evening, the electricity supply was tripping every 10 minutes, so I swited the bolier off overnight. I switched it...

    Grundfos central heating pump

just a suggestion but if you are going to drain the system is it not worth changing the pump valves as well, ( probably knackered anyway). Then you wouldn't have to separate the pump and pump valves, only separate were the pump valves join to the 22m pipe which is a smaller nut, must be easier...

    pump bleeding

hi all. just a couple of questions on bleeding a vented system with a Grundfos pump. Can you bleed the pump with the system running ie remove the big chrome nut? The reason I ask is that the service engineer did just that yesterday but looking at all the threads it don't look correct...

    blocked cold feed

Thanks Chris I think we are talking about a black jelly here, I cleaned out the expansion tank at the weekend and there was loads of it. I also drained a rad but it seems to have refilled, I don't know if it's taken water from the exp. tank or taken it from elsewhere in the system?

    blocked cold feed

Thanks for your suggestions JD. As an alternative could I cut the 15" pipe just above the tee (to replace the tee would not be easy due to lack of access) and poke around with something suitable?
