    Tips for Plastering whole house

There really is only one way to skim a wall, just a case of being good at it. As suggested get a few quotes and ask friends and family for recommendations.

Acrylic Paints - cracking and colouring

Probably a bit late now but for future reference you would be better off using a seperate primer and undercoat. Just a quick question, were these doors completely bare? Only ask as I recently done a job where the coverage was bad and then discovered they had been oiled.

Help!!damp patches around chimney breast in upstairs bedroom

Guessing by the pic it is a flat roof that goes up against the wall in question, I would check along there first. Take a hose up or buckets of water, if water collects somewhere then examine that area closely.

    Gloss / Satinwood Preparation Requirments

Your best bet would be sand to take off the shine dust off then oil based undercoat then gloss (one of each would do)

    Join between wall and ceiling

As suggested filler should do the job, fill the deeper ones in two stages if need be. The smaller cracks will need opening up a little before filling then rub down then fill again if needed. If the problem reoccurs then tape and fill will be an option

    Coving onto new plaster

You should consider plaster coving instead of polystyrene. You will end up with straight lines with the plaster coving, polystyrene will enhance any imperfections so you could end up with some waves going on.

    Dropped paintstripper on

Obvious suggestion really, just replace it. If its inside you could get a piece of mdf cut to size. Or put a plant on top of it :D

Just go for a Matt emulsion, it will be ok now you have a properly working fan.

Are these walls ready to paint / paper? (Pictures inside)

I second that. Also recommend using easifill with a 12 inch caulking blade, no need to line the walls then.

    Advice, I'm confused

May well be easifill. If you give the wall a coat of watered down Matt emulsion about 30% water then paint your desired paint onto that, same goes for the bare plaster.

Which paint brand? Is valspar really just snake oil?

As long as you go for a trade Matt then you will be able to wipe the walls.
