Help needed albeit not "ban all sheds "

All is well "ban all sheds" I have been in discussion with the attendant from B&Q. He has kindly given me a sketch on a Rizla paper to follow. I will take the added safety precaution of wearing marigold gloves and welly boots when I switch on for the first time.

Help needed albeit not "ban all sheds "

OK. Middle wire feeds switch. Left hand is 5A (light)wire & Right hand 15A wire I presume fed the socket. Should of photographed the set up before replacing. RCD is at the house consumer box. To put it simple I only want to replace what was already placed by the electrician before I lived...

Help needed albeit not "ban all sheds "

Help needed. I replaced my old timber garage with new and cut off the consumer unit to put back on after it was replaced. I just wanted to replace it to what was there before. A light and socket. As stupid as it sounds I look at it now and think which one was the power supply, socket and...

    Convert single brick garage

If you fix battens directly to the wall through your waterproof membrane would you not be then puncturing your waterproof membrane? I would go for a well vented cavity rather than go the tanked option. I did once fix onto a tanked wall (architects detail) but just seemed a poor detail.

Is it ok to cover internal upvc cladding with plasterboard?

Is it not possible to remove the cladding internally? Either way just make sure you have a decent moisture barrier (taped polythene) over the insulation/ stud work to stop any warm internal air reaching cold surfaces.

    Shuttering for foundations

The base of the footing 800mm below the pipe? In the past if you can't sleeve the pipe it would be wrapped in some expandable material so no movement in the concrete footing effects it. That's what we do here.

DIY loft conversion aside the electrician.

I used a laser level and dipped with a tape on top of the plaster to find the highest point. I think I just cleared the highest point and set this as my level throughout. It did end up with a couple of localised small bits needing reduced.

    My Raised Deck

I'm no expert in decking but have started doing one myself for the first time. ( in a house sense rather than commercial ) As an engineer I just don't like the idea of timbers in the ground where they can't dry or be aired. I might be over the top but I set my deck on concrete blocks levelled...

Replace decrepit garage with garden room inc store room

Been so long had to scrawl down to find it. Most folks have probably done their extensions etc in the time it takes me to put a door in. Very slow I know but trying to get the externals finished before winter. Surround decking started and electrics now in. The new high...

    how deep to dig

Ground compacted. DPM forming a continuous sealed barrier. Insulation correct type and no gaps. Depth of concrete to be poured correct. Anything on your approved drawing has been included. Threshold detail, etc. Other than that dunno.

My alterations, starting with the garden.

This reminds me of a motorcycle I once had. Every winter I ripped it apart and rebuilt until one day I was left with a headstock and gearbox of the original bike! My brother asked me "why didn't you just buy a different bike you liked" :D

Alternative to concrete for garage floor

What I did was strip foundation/ blockwork substructure and poured the slab . All was batched in a 240v half bag mixer but done in stages including the foundations. You just have to allow for rebar between pours. 7m x 3m.
