    Advice needed please - washbasin

Yes, I supplied the basin and taps long before he started work and gave them to him to inspect and plan.

    Advice needed please - washbasin

That's terrible - really? I can't stand looking at those pipes. There must be a way. The pics were all online. There were no captions saying if they were working installations or not. I found several YT videos and a couple of webpages that said or showed wall hung basins with the feed pipes up...

    Advice needed please - washbasin

Yes, from what I have seen and read online I believe the feed pipes should be invisible from above and only seen if one crouches down and peers underneath. I don't comprehend your second sentence. Are you saying he should fit a steel ring and did not? Are clients "constantly watching" their...

    Advice needed please - washbasin

Please can someone help? The builders finished creating a new wetroom today. They are coming back tomorrow (Sat) to finish the associated decorating. After they left I had a good look, and I really don't like the way the water pipes are so prominent and noticeable. So I looked online at...

    WETROOM WALLS?

Thank you. Yes I see they are only 20cm.

    WETROOM WALLS?

Tell, I have already ordered these tiles for the floor of the wetroom. They are incredibly cheap, even after paying shipping. Presumably they would "do" for the walls, or would such large format tiles look silly in such a tiny room...

    WETROOM WALLS?

The site is currently a kitchen. The walls have not yet been built. And my drawing skills are so bad there's no way I would post my kindergarten-like efforts online!

    WETROOM WALLS?

Good idea. I will go with tiles. I don't think they intended to do the tiling themselves, so I may have to find a tiler

    WETROOM WALLS?

Hi Chibs and thanks for the reply. They did not even get round to asking me to choose any tiles; they just said tiling the wetroom would cost £700 (materials and labour). I'd be more than happy with cheap tiles. Maybe I will ask them what price tiles they used for their estimate.

    WETROOM WALLS?

The walls are mixed. Three new stud walls, one old brick wall. The height is yet to be determined. We are making the wetroom out of part of the existing kitchen but my builders think the ceiling is too high and suggest putting a false ceiling.

Choosing laminate for whole house, what thickness, and reducing noise

I got rid of my bedroom carpet 10 years ago in favour of laminate and I do not have either of those issues. My double divan is on sliders and it still does not move unless deliberately pushed sideways. I do not own a pair of slippers and have never found the laminate flooring too cold for my...

    WETROOM WALLS?

I'm in charge of choosing everything for my new tiny wetroom. By tiny I mean it is literally 1200 x 1200. Really just a toilet with a shower handset on a riser rail. I have builders doing the work but it's up to me to make all the decisions and to pay for it all :) So, my query is, how to...

Adding shelves into an MDF wardrobe.

Ah, I already have one of those. I have quite a lot of tools (for a girl!) plus power tools, all ready but I am a little nervous to use them!

Adding shelves into an MDF wardrobe.

That was the ONE piece of DIY advice my dad taught me! I'm more worried about how to measure correctly so that I drill the holes for the fixing blocks in such a way that the shelves sit absolutely level.

Adding shelves into an MDF wardrobe.

Thanks, Mot. I did not know those fixing blocks could be used as shelf supports. What a good idea. They are certainly cheap! I also did not know that B&Q cut contiboard for customers .... is that every branch, I wonder <ringing local branch now...> Just rang my branch and no, they don't cut...

Adding shelves into an MDF wardrobe.

Hi, ignorant amateur here! I am going to attach additional shelves into this unit. https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/brimnes-wardrobe-with-2-doors-white-40400478/ I know how I would do it with a wooden unit - battens screwed in then shelves screwed down into battens. What's the best way when it's...

MDF "thingy" - what is it called please?

Jason -- it just shows what a total lack of imagination I have that it never crossed my mind to have it made to my own design. Could prove more expensive though. Chip - thanks for the lead will check it out....

Cantilevered (?) triangular basin support - feasible?

Don't start THAT again lol The basin replaces the current basin, which is a very boring modern shape. I'm sure to get £5 for it and its pedestal on Ebay. Did you really think I didn't have a washbasin in my bathroom? lol So, the cantilever idea will work, then, will it? [/b]

Cantilevered (?) triangular basin support - feasible?

Hello Burner, fancy meeting you here. Soon you will know ALL my secret plans! I don't want the basin to sit inside the frame but on top of it. In fact the edge of the basin would overhang the 2x2 frame on all 3 sides. The basin is currently in my bedroom and sits on an old pine cupboard. I...
