    DIY gas

Not particularly You, however, have an interest in keeping a closed shop, don't you An argument which is not relevant to the point that safety and competence are not one and the same thing - however you want to dress it up

so, TW and 45yearsold - would you care to to say how many ultimate boilers you've worked on in, say, the past year? sort of order of magnitude, rule of thumb answer would be good enough lets be generous and include micron 100 &120 boilers

    DIY gas

There are a number of fitters out there who are not competent, who do not know enough, who have failed to keep up with technology, or whatever There are a number of people out there who are not gas safe who are competent I cannot precisely define competence nor can the H&S exec. You have...

    Potterton Profile Boiler Not Firing!!??

see my post in the Potterton Profile Prima Air Pressure sensing" thread for an explanation of how the sequence should be If you can smell gas and the PV solenoid is opening, but you have no spark, unless the HT lead is shorting to the case, then the problem is wikh the pcb (407677)

gas boiler pilot goes out when off

Above, you said it was a standing pilot (by which I presume you mean permanent pilot). Potterton Profile Prima Air Pressure sensing

The sequence goes like ths: If the two white stat wires see a short circuit and tre air pressure switch has a good low ohmic ( ~<1ohm), between the normally closed contacts and common, when mains is applied across live and neutral of the pcb, the fan comes on. The fan activates the APS and...

gas boiler pilot goes out when off

Without being sarcastic Your boiler has electronic ignition, you will hear a click, click, click of the spark to ignite the gas from the pilot. The classic also has an electronic version, but I I've not come across the perm pilot version (a bit old) There is the possibility that the...

    DIY gas

The sticky says "Competence is only proven by passing ACS exams and having the ability to carry out certain safety tests required by law ." This is not correct. The ACS exams are only there to show that the fitter is SAFE to work on the relevant gas appliances, NOT that he / she is...

We're so cold...damn rubbish stupid old heating..please help

just because the shaft is turning doesn't mean that the pump is working. The impeller can shear off (ceramic) shafts The OP needs to hold the pipe and feel the water flowing or not Could it be the diverter valve not opening or something like that ? Isn't there some common fault with the...
