We're so cold...damn rubbish stupid old heating..please help

I would imagine the circulating pump is having a bad day.....just becase it may be humming (or whatever) doesn't mean to say that its actually pumping.
You bleed these things by removing the chrome screw in the middle, and then its possible to get a small screwdriver in the hole to check that the impeller inside is spinning briskly.
John :)

just because the shaft is turning doesn't mean that the pump is working. The impeller can shear off (ceramic) shafts

The OP needs to hold the pipe and feel the water flowing or not

Could it be the diverter valve not opening or something like that ?

Isn't there some common fault with the overflow pipe to the jockey tank getting blocked and causing a problem?

Had this recently on a Grunny 25-55. Was told categorically that if the impeller had come adrift from the shaft it wouldn't be repairable.

A quick visit to a hardware store and some epoxy resin later and we are two years in with the customer very happy at the cost saving.

Still, a rather rare thing - first for me in over ten years.

Not to say the shaft cant;t have sheared as well though.

If the boiler was all set to work and stopped there is a fault in your system. On a back boiler the only thing you will be able to
check is if the pump is running.
You need someone who knows what they are doing and is going to fix
it. You NEED to pay for this instead of wasting time asking for help
on a website.

Thanks for your negative input. But where have i said the boiler has stopped ?

As for wasting time on this site,my husband has learned quite a bit from the kind people on here trying to help.

Times are hard,we are a young family with 2 children.Dont you think if we could afford a heating engineer to come in & fix this problem we would.

they are not engineers, they are fitters

and yes there are a number of "get a man in" nazis here

Don't under estimate the risk of farting about with a BBU without the knowledge to do it safely.

With 2 young children you are better off being cold than dead. (fault notwithstanding). As I have said before. The last people in any house to realise there is no heating are the kids. No child should be that inactive (unless handicapped in some way of course).

Who are these "fitters" Raden?

Who are these "fitters" Raden?

They are those who are sometimes mistakenly called "engineers"

They do not engineer anything, they are not allowed to. They fit parts which, hopefully, are the parts that actually need replacing. Unfortunately, this is not always the case
