Screwed chipboard flooring or something else

So for anyone interested, I've decided to go for 22mm chipboard. Price wise OSB was slightly more expensive but I settled on chipboard because I read it has a finer grain which makes the T&G joints tighter. It's P5 because that's all that my local merchant stocks. 450mm joists is the...

Screwed chipboard flooring or something else

Actually, having checked the price locally, square edged OSB is only £1per sq m more expensive than T&G chipboard. But he says people go for chipboard not OSB. Why would that be? As there's already noggings across the joists would it make most sense to get square edge OSB and cut to the...

Screwed chipboard flooring or something else

Hello My converted loft is L shaped and the main area has T&G chipboard flooring. The remainder, done at at later time was done with 20mm T&G pine floorboards. Part of both floors has had to come up for renovation work. The chipboard area has been cut and screwed back down on noggings...

Zone 2 demister mirror in Zone 1

Ha, I was just searching if you can remove demister pads without damaging the silvering. More challenging would be how to get to the wires with wet fingers, they’d be way out of reach!

Alternatives to 22mm NMP TG4 on wetroom floor?

Thanks, I’ll look into it. So how did the laminate surface interact with tiles and/or a decoupling/tanking membrane?

Alternatives to 22mm NMP TG4 on wetroom floor?

Thanks for the helpful replies. Thanks mrrusty. FWIW AI tells me that it’s not suitable for wet rooms but I guess it’d okay if I put tile backerboard over the top. But if I’m going to do 2 layers I wonder how P5 board (which is the Kronobuild), compares to WBP ply? Thanks yorksbuilder...

Alternatives to 22mm NMP TG4 on wetroom floor?

Thanks - I don't think Hardiebacker is structural so it would have to go over something else. What do people use these days? Previously I used marine ply but that seems to have its critics. I pulled out chipboard and don't think I'll be putting similar back in unless the moisture resistant...

Zone 2 demister mirror in Zone 1

..so don’t connect it to the power supply in the first place. Out of interest, shouldn’t these electrical items be marked with their IP rating than rather rely on a line on a piece of paper that will go in the recycling bin once installed?

Zone 2 demister mirror in Zone 1

Yes, so my original question was whether there was anything that could be done to make it suitable for Zone 1. A couple of other replies made me hopeful there was but I appreciate the manufacturer’s position is the official position as regards safety and suitability and therefore not.

Zone 2 demister mirror in Zone 1

Here? It also says IP44, which I believe is okay for bathroom Zone 1? So does that mean it's just the demister that isn't IP44?

Zone 2 demister mirror in Zone 1

Thanks for the replies The power will only be live to the mirror if I turn the rocker outside the bathroom on. I'm assuming that when the rocker is turned on, a hand wave will turn the LEDs and demister on together, but I haven't tried it. I've opened the back and below are photos. The white...

Zone 2 demister mirror in Zone 1

Not yet. I know I’ll be voiding the warranty but I’ll give it a go if you’re willing to help me There's a box on the back which I’ll open up tomorrow and post a photo if that’s okay, or tell me what to look for. Thanks !

Zone 2 demister mirror in Zone 1

Thanks! . So I see I can get 12V demister mats and a SELV transformer but can I do anything about the LED lights?

Zone 2 demister mirror in Zone 1

Thanks. I spoke to the manufacturers (Hib) and they say I can't adapt it. (That said, they didn't seem particularly knowledgeable or interested.) I'm just a bit surprised that a company that pitches itself as a bathroom supply shop only sells Zone 2 products. It's my own stupid fault for...

Zone 2 demister mirror in Zone 1

Surely not that unusual - and according to this, it was a 'hot trend' in 2021 : Mirrors above baths Clearly I've got my finger on a slow pulse.

Zone 2 demister mirror in Zone 1

Thanks for replying. You wave your hand to turn it on and off. The power supply comes in behind the mirror (at 1.75m high) and controlled by a rocker switch outside the bathroom.

Zone 2 demister mirror in Zone 1

Hello I've just realised that the demister mirror I bought to go above the bath is only suitable for Zone 2 and beyond. As I want it to go in Zone 1 is there anything I can do (other than put it elsewhere), or have I just made an expensive mistake? Thanks

    Reduce room by 40mm

I’m just a DIYer so this is not professional perspective, but having recently stripped out my bathrooms I won’t be replacing the shower areas with ordinary plasterboard. The old plasterboard behind the tile was black, presumably mould due to moisture penetration through the grout over years...
