Solenoid Valve in Electric Shower? what is it for?!!

ok thanks for the info. basically: with the shower off, the solenoid is closed and water cannot enter the shower unit. thus it is a safety device, as if the micro/flow switch sticks, then no water (even a small amount/flow) will be able to flow through it. i thought that the element in the...

Solenoid Valve in Electric Shower? what is it for?!!

oh i see, the dial doesn't fully shut the water off. ok, thanks for explaining that. one other thing though: if the flow is too low, the element may not heat up (the pressure would be too low to activate the micro/flow switch). so how does the solenoid stop people getting scalded then...

Solenoid Valve in Electric Shower? what is it for?!!

i know this - but why the need? how comes the dial is not sufficient enough, like for an instanteneous water heater? wouldn't turning the dial not just allow water through and do the same job? i don't get what the point of the solenoid is? ........

Solenoid Valve in Electric Shower? what is it for?!!

One quick question for any experts out there who may know: What is the point of a solenoid valve in an electric shower? If the water flows through the unit and the pressure of the mains water going through it activates a micro/flow switch that puts the power on to the element anyway...

TRVS save money on fuel bills?? / Domestic Heating Comp. G..

Hi Yes I know they turn the heat to the rad down!!!!!!! but the room stat will turn off the boiler when the room temp is reached, not the TRV. so the boiler will continue to fire no matter if some rads with TRVs are off! I suppose a modulating modern boiler would ... but a normal boiler...

TRVS save money on fuel bills?? / Domestic Heating Comp. G..

Is the Domestic Heating Compliance Guide as strong as the Building Regs Part L1 for heating systems/design? Or is it like British Standards, like a guidance? I was looking for some info on the DOmestic Heating Compliance Guide (as I believe it is a new thing), as I am interested in what it...

fully pumped heating and water - 150mm connection.

after searching the net i have come up with the reason: it is to ensure that the vent pipe is also at the neutral point in the system (any more than a 150mm gap would not mean it is also at the neutral point). anyone else know of this?

    Pump working or not?

pump overrun removes residual heat from the boiler's heat exchanger when the boiler has stopped firing - this protects the boiler and stops "kettling" sounds happening also. usually found with modern, low-water content boilers. will be pre-wired up to the boiler's pcb when boiler is purchased.
