A massive co incidence or somethings changed perhaps My van insurance, landlord insurance and home insurance all up for renewal in the same few weeks. Every renewal has come back noticeably cheaper than any of the comparison sites can manage. Still an inrease though. Has anyone else experienced...

Robins - why so very tame

There was an article about robins awhile back and IIRC,the Scandinavian ones migrate down to us for the winter and ours migrate to Spain. The three day journey is done in one hit. Amazing little critters.

Off-peak tariff, does it really save money?

Yes and while we were at work and the house unoccupied. But because we had all the big guns on timers running at night we were paying full day rates at night for those Not so good when you are unaware of the fact and infuriating when you find out. And when the relevant authorities are in...

Off-peak tariff, does it really save money?

Had economy 7 about 30 years ago and had a very early RF smart meter. The tariffs were switched and we were paying full price for night units The power company and the energy supplier would not have it and would not even investigate. Never again for dual tarrif and no to smart meter

    Install O.N.T.

They drilled through around 6" from the incomer and installed a radius making trim over the cable entry hole. You will need at least cat6 fully sheilded cable run to your router. The router ,as df says, should be central to the property as possible. Also well away from other wiring and...

    Tyre crazing time to replace?

Other than the retreaded lorry tyres you see on the motorway (self inflicted problem) how many people have actually had a tyre fail? Actually. Not many. Scaremongering by the industry perpetuated by the internet. Those who cannot afford top brands will have to settle, under duress, for a no...

Basin tap sticking & not much flow

At some point they will need replacing. Id bite the bullet now and destroy the enclosure, put new taps on,installing full bore service valves and providing an access opening for the future If your reviving plans go south youll be doing this anyway. Sorry to be unhelpful.

Over lapping hobbies and past times, how they help each other!

Beekeeping and joinery Had no interest whatsoever in either until the better half bought me a wooden hive as an unexpected present. Got hooked on the bees and soon expanded the project so had to learn timber skills. Because everything is on a tight budget and also for ecological reasons I make...

    Tyre crazing time to replace?

"Expiry date"on tyres applies to 3500 kg vehicles inc minibus. Does not apply to passenger cars and small vans. Its the same situation as wear limit- the industry will bully you into replacing early because its in tjeir financial interest to do so. As with most things, the internet breeds health...
