    basic question

erm..... i'm sure in the water bylaws it says hot on the left cold on the right, however it is a convention to fit the hot tap on a bath on the side furthest to reach so in some cases the hot will be on the Right

New combi boiler + old radiators = :(

i thought the trv controlled the opening of a valve based on room temperature not the actuall temp of at rad ? thats right isnt it ? *dumb question alert" so if thats the case as long as the room is warm ( or retains the heat from the rad then the rad will switch off ?)

    Leaking bottom Rad Pipe.

the way i usually find drain valves is to look at the property from the outside. if it is a house or a ground floor flat look for a drain valve at ground level . It looks like a small tap with a tiny square handle. if your flat is not ground floor, then go outside and look for a (normally)...

    plumbing vent question

yes your external soil stack is vented, either open vented, or with a air admittance valve, in extreme circumstances there may be a need to install further venting, but as JPC said, normally domestic situations have adiquate venting why do you ask ?

    Leaking bottom Rad Pipe.

yup thats your best bet, just remember its the olive that you are PTFEing not the threads.... ok ? you know actually take the bottom nut off, and pull the pipe put of the TRV, tape the olive (tape in the correct direction to avoid tape unwinding when tigtening (anti-clockwise as you look at...

    mixer shower problems

hmm.... strange one, assuming its a combi then a bath mixer and shower tap should work no probs, if its not a combi the only thing i can assume is that it is not balanced hot and cold supplies - i dont know why this would affect the bath water being colder that the shower attachment but its...

    Leaking bottom Rad Pipe.

Problem is that the leave is before the TRV. Because of this you are going to need to drain at least part of the heating system. go round and close all Locksheild and trv valves on al rads. (not always neccesery to vaccume system but will help) switch off boiler , and open air vent on rad in...
