How do I remove and replace this manhole cover?

Judging by the advice here, I don’t imagine they would have done much different? If anyone is able to give me advice on making good where it sits 9mm higher so I’d be obliged!

How do I remove and replace this manhole cover?

I think I tried everything under the sun that was on the shelf, both liquid and mechanical. If anyone needs a 7m pipe snake…. For the drain or the manhole @HERTS P&D

How do I remove and replace this manhole cover?

Hah, I was worried I’d smash the clay pipes when demolishing it, but all was good. As for trying to get a builder in to change this to one with a flat lid though… Christ, no one calls back

Haha well I would be lying if I said I hadn’t considered it!

How do I remove and replace this manhole cover?

Hah, I’m probably explaining this poorly, but what I mean is that I guess I need the frame of the manhole to be tiled up to and within as opposed to just over the top, otherwise I’ll end up laying the LVT straight back over the top of it. Similar to this:

How do I remove and replace this manhole cover?

Ah sorry - yes, you and @kingandy2nd are right in saying that. I could re-cast the existing but then it would sit 9mm lower than the vinyl tile :?:

How do I remove and replace this manhole cover?

It’s not come out easily, and I presumed it’s anchored in somehow to prevent the hole thing lifting up when the cover is removed?

How do I remove and replace this manhole cover?

I’ve got visions of the fridge scene from Ghostbusters 1

What sort of drain is this?

Thanks @tell80 for the pointers - I ended up having a local plumber out with a CCTV camera, as per my other thread, the sink drain had become blocked. That was full of fat and detergent, and luckily his rod pushed it through, with the camera showing it running free after. He looked at this...

How do I remove and replace this manhole cover?

Yes they are - I guess it either came pre-poured or it was filled at the time of fitting, and the lid has a rubber seal with the screws ensuring an air-tight fit.

How do I remove and replace this manhole cover?

Now I guess my question should be what does this need replacing with? Assuming it’ll be one of those covers where you see the outline within the flooring, it’ll need bringing up by 9mm to meet the level of the LVT. I take it the whole thing needs replacing and not just the cover?

How do I remove and replace this manhole cover?

You’re right - I was expecting a solid metal base, but it’s a grate of rebar type mesh: To answer my own question, a sledgehammer and hammer + bolster - even with keys, I’d never have lifted it.

What sort of drain is this?

It is. Judging by the unaltered bungalow next door, this isn’t where the manhole is/was, but rather between the two original, perhaps.

How do I remove and replace this manhole cover?

Thanks for the responses above. the bathroom WC basin and bath drain in to it, and it runs towards the sink that’s blocked. Right, so I’ve learned today that the cover is actually concrete and without a metal base. Based on the concrete now being removed and the likelihood of the cover...

What sort of drain is this?

Thanks (again) @Hugh Jaleak. It should just be bathroom waste - but as per the missing manhole cover, who knows with this extension! The rainwater drains some 4 odd metres away, but could well link-up..

What sort of drain is this?

Hello again, On changing the bathroom suite, I have found the bath drains in to this hole, with the sink draining into a similar hole beside it that leads to the same drain. The bath waste pipe came out with ease, which leads me to worry that the bathroom floor could flood in the event the...

How do I remove and replace this manhole cover?

Hello all, I’ve had a good search but can’t seem to find an answer (apologies if this is infact a duplicate thread). Can anyone advise the best way of removing this inset (I think that’s what they’re called) manhole cover? The four screws are out but I don’t want to damage the screw holes by...

Any experience with a Wagner airless sprayer?

I am new to paint spraying, and have the same unit. My first job was spraying fence panels - they were all different ages and colours, so two thinned tins of exterior paint later and I’d sprayed 17 panels in a very short time. I then painted indoors. The matte paint was probably too thick...
