    ABS broken?

i had this same situation on my 1996 vw polo when i almost ran over a dog that flew across the road in front of me. i put it down to the abs being there, but not being very good at its job (aka old model). as my new 2003 civic fires the abs even on medium braking.

    Golf stalls when braking

Does it die only when you brake? Or does it die too when it reaches idle? Sounds like it could be an electrical problem as it happens when you press the brake (and thus you light all three braking lights). Like its taking the power needed to keep sparking the engine to the lights instead.

    citroen synergie hard to start

AFAIK you can pull the glow plugs and run 12V thru them to check that they work ok. I assume your battery is in good condition giving out 12V + ? As the glow plugs wont be running at full heat if your battery is low on juice.

Firstly, check the fuse, its probably under your steering wheel, if you cant find the right one, it may be in the fusebox under the bonnet. use a multimeter on it with the resistance setting on, it should show a different value when touching the fuse's terminals and not. if you dont fancy...

    Finding more power

smaller diameter wheels will increase your acceleration but lower your max speed. reduce the weight by removing the spare tire+jack+axe+shotgun from your boot would also help.

    Coving a wall/ceiling with 135 degree angles?

I have recently done up my on-suite bathroom and removed the old polystyrene coving and now need to replace it with some nice wood coving. However in 2 places in the room there are 135 degree walls which are causing me a big headache. (Basicly its the corner of the room above the sink)...
