    Drill for 4" core drilling

Thanks for all the comments and advice, i'll try and get a proper Diamond Core drill. I dont fancy getting broken fingers or wrist and by the sounds of it that type of drill will be handy for putting big/long masonery drills through walls when the need arises.

    Drill for 4" core drilling

Fair enough, the point of asking the question here is to avoid buying the wrong unit be it Makita or other brand. Just one other question, what exactly is the reason 'other' drills can't cope with a core on the end of them? Not having a clutch has already been mentioned but there must be some...

    Drill for 4" core drilling

First, what relevence is that to my post? Second, my 'toolkit' currently being dragged around with me in the van would cost a minimum of £1500 to replace, never mind the stuff that's not in the van everyday. Third, 2 months ago i 'invested' £325.00 in De-Walt 18v Li-Ion cordless gear and...

    Drill for 4" core drilling

Further to last post, i was in one of the merchants today and spoke to the manager who offered me this Makita... http://compare.ebay.co.uk/like/380439346266?var=lv&ltyp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&adtype=pla exactly the same as the eBay listing (inc chuck, 3 packs of SDS drills and spade...

    Drill for 4" core drilling

Point taken on both counts, although as i work direct for the council and we are asked to provide our own tools (cost saving) i'm looking for a 'safe to use' but affordable unit for the job that in truth i rarely need to do. Edit, Having re thought the matter and further to the good...

    Drill for 4" core drilling

Ocassionally in my job i need to drill a 4" core through walls for vents etc. If i were doing 3 or 4 a week i would just go out and get a name brand diamond core drill...but for me it might be one every few months. For those that drill cores regularly would you say a cheaper make drill such...

    Angle grinder recommendations

Get a 230mm for sure and as said above a diamond disk, stone disks just wear far to quickly. Just looked at HomeBase site for something else and found this http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=110&storeId=10151&partNumber=443874 same as the one i have and...

Cut into a sewer inspection chamber?

Just as an aside Nige, are you sure the smell at gutter level wouldn't dissipate, reason i ask, i was on a roof today and noticed the stench pipe quite near to where i was working, so remembering this post measured the height difference from the gutter to the top of the stench pipe....14" or...

Cut into a sewer inspection chamber?

As Nige F says, that is a better idea altogether and less work i should think

Cut into a sewer inspection chamber?

As far as i know Nige F is right.....but, as an exercise is hypothetical thinking... The chamber is likely to be 2 course of bricks thick which you would need to get through. The idea of a u bend would be more likely to cause a blockage in time from gutter debris. If the imaginery pipe was...

    Clay and drainage. Ideas

First i would take several trial holes and find out exactly how deep the clay layer is over the entire site (i'm assuming a modest garden not a stately home) and more importantly, where the gravel layer is and how deep that is. Assuming some top soil, some 4 to 6 inches of clay and resonable...

    Bloody Noise Complaints

Lot of folk these days seem to like to moan for the sake of moaning...always makes me wonder if it where their roof/wall/drive which needs repair, would they leave it unrepaired....because it might make a noise.....would they flip :?

    Bloody Noise Complaints

I agree with you noseall, 8.00am week days is reasonable, 9.00am saturdays and as said i think after 10am sundays is also acceptable. I suppose it depends on the type of noise and duration, stone saws and angle grinders are probably worse but hammer drills and general knocking around can...
