Is there any ceiling light that can act just as a cover?

I think what you are asking for is a ceiling mounted fitting with separate lamps? Ie not a “pendant light”? Many are now LED as it’s easier to sell a complete unit and LEDs often outlive the fitting in terms of taste. https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/noesund-ceiling-lamp-birch-20404887/...

    Winch purchase advice needed please

List what you have, what you want to use it for with more detail. Lifting is a lot more dangerous than horizontal pulling. Few people would give advice on anything that involved lifting without some more info due to the risk factor. Bear in mind that if something is being dragged, then you can...

What to do with dismissed loft cisterns?

Most old galvanised tanks get left in the loft, they are heavy The plastic ones can be removed as they are light, but might have some water left in them. I wouldn’t bother using one for storage, just buy some “really useful” boxes and either ensure that they can sit on at least enough...

    Fencing in front garden

My estate has open plan and a covenant on zero fences. .No idea who would enforce it I always understood that the 1M rule was pretty universal. Although the house that I grew up in had 6 foot fences on both sides of the front. However we had a ten foot wall at the front, the road was unadopted

Plumbing stacked washer from new utility

Yonks ago my mum had hover washing machine and tumble driers stacked. A TD is way lighter and there was a band that sat on top of the WM with a lip that the TD sat in. I can’t believe that something universal isn’t made these days. What is the floor of the WC ?

    Remove Dent in Convector Heater.

As said, remove the top. A couple of strong boards on each side of the dent also covering some of the un dented portion A series of G clamps pulling the boards together should squeeze the panel flat. If you are lucky, you may be able to remove the dented panel once the top is off and simply...

    Empty toner cartridges

At work, they are collected in cardboard deposit boxes and recycled. Because it’s a big site, we actually have the Kyocera photocopier people based on site. I would guess that local governments have bins at the dump?

    Extending height of garden gate

Trellis works well and is recommended by the police for fences. Making something that is too wobbly to climb stops people trying to. A spot of anti climb paint won’t hurt.

Dishwasher tilting, how do I secure it properly?

You’d have to pull it out to see, (by lowering the legs) But they may have just shimmed the front, while it needs one at the back. As said, it should be side screwed into the adjoining units, but if you pack the top and then adjust the feet to jack it up against the top it should stay

Path built half way up air brick. Can I sanity check my planned fix

You could build a small concrete barrier around the vent a couple of inches high, or if you cut a small section away, make an upstand to divert any excessive water away. Something simple like a tile would do. I’s be tempted to do nothing but keep an eye on it.

Path built half way up air brick. Can I sanity check my planned fix

As above. However rather than lifting an entire slab, you could use an angle grinder with cutting disc or stitch drill an area just in front of the air brick and break out a bite of the slab. I doubt that it’s worth it,, but it’s easy to do. Cables shouldn’t be so close to the surface and you...
