    Sash box replacement advice

I have old sash box windows with Alumunium windows inside of them. The sash boxes have begun to rot away and I really need to replace the windows. A builder next door looking to get in on the job has said the after the sashes are removed you need to brick up the gaps and the sashes have a...

    New Shower Help

My house does not have shower. I am re-doing my bathroom and I want to fit one. I have a Glowworm 18si Condensing boiler fitted in the bathroom (2nd floor) with a hot water cylinder underneath it in the same cupboard and a cold water tank in the loft immediately above it. Firstly, I don't...

    Meter move + landlord supply

Thanks for the posts. Yes it is jobworthism. He took a load of pics and gave it to a technical architect (who I cannot speak to). They gave me an extortionate quote and said I can go elsewhere if I was not happy with it knowing fully well they have the monopoly (unless someone here can tell...

    Meter move + landlord supply

I am working with Western Power at the moment. I wanted a meter moved and a landlord supply put in. They told me there was no extra capacity and I would have to replace the whole system up to the meters. The quote was very pricey for a supply just for emergency lighting. They then said you...

    Blothes in paint work

I did apply a watered down coat twice. These blotches seem to come through. It's like the blothes are just not absorbing paint. I rang the plasterer. He said, firstly it's bad paint and then said this is a "fact of life" when you have plaster over a cement\sand mix. He says it's salt coming...

    Damp Plaster

I'm not sure what I am going to do, but I have a few thoughts. With regard to youy kicthen. It's alot cheaper to fit it yourself. Fitting and aligning the cabs is easy. The hard bit is the worktop. I would get a joiner to that for you. The plumbing.... a few pipes to the sink.

    Damp Plaster

The batton is there because thse fkwits did not bother looking at the plan. They put all the units far left off of the picture right next to the cooker hood and have now done that with these cabs. hence when you work back to the wall, you get this gap. You're right, it looks ****. They're...

    Damp Plaster

Things took a different turn today. They kinda let it slip they are starting another job. Got the impression they're leaving me with a working sink, washing machine and worktops and sodding off. They had the gall to think it was ok if they come back and finish the job in 2 months. They have...

    Damp Plaster

Everything was down to the builder. That doesn't concern me too much. I can get a sparky and a plumber to finish off. I am more concerned about ensuring I am on solid ground so he has no comeback on me regarding this or any other matter. Having something scientific saying this wall has a...

    Damp Plaster

I didn't see them do it, but my house mate tells me they used cement on the wall. Is there any meter or instrument I can use to say "look there is a problem becuase this says so". They refuse to listen to me and we have had several arguements about it. Kinda getting sick of their "we know what...
