    Hardwired Doorbell chime wiring

Sorry about my vagueness. To Clarify: The Chime has a built in transformer, I've opened it. It is stamped 'Friedland' Does anybody have an idea why 3 separate cables would have the brown/live tied together and the the 3 other cores going to 3 separate terminals. Thanks.

    Hardwired Doorbell chime wiring

Cheers The old bell is a 'Friedland'. I'm pretty sure it has a built in transformer meaning the feed must be mains. Do you see the size of it in the photo ? it's a monster.

    Hardwired Doorbell chime wiring

Hi, I'm trying to replace my hardwired doorbell chime. The existing one is wired in to the lights and has a built in transformer. I bought a replacement that requires 240V & the signal from the button. The old one had 3 cables going to it and when I removed it to paint the wall it...

    Staircase position

Thanks Woody. Yeah it's a bit odd. The designer guy has given me 2 quotes, 1 for an extension with Hip Dormers that would need planning and 1 with just a box dormer that would fall under PD. I said to him it would be down to cost which one I go for so he said speak to a builder for a ball...

    Staircase position

Hi, I've had an architectural guy in to discuss a loft conversion. There's a few possibilities around dormers or just Velux windows so he suggested I get a builder in for some rough quotes before proceeding. The first builder right away told me the place I had envisaged the new...

    Plasterboard over wood?

I recently had a room skimmed that had a load of wood below and at the sides of a bay window. I removed all the wood and strapped and boarded it. Strapping the wall was a real pain to get level due to the nature of the walls and window frame. I have to do the same in another room that has a...

Soil pipe diameter bigger than standard pan connector.

Just nipped out and got an extension piece. Thanks. I've noticed the toilet has no provision for fixing to the ground. It's one of these: http://www.bathempire.com/ladoga-toilet-and-cistern_p22288494.htm Will a bead of silicon do it? There are no holes in the cistern either. There...
