I replaced the balofix valve on the hot pipe under the bath taps for a butterfly valve about one year ago. I tried to turn it off today and it was incredibly stiff. I thought these valves would be much better than the balofix and was not expecting this to happen. Can these valves be serviced...

I know but under consumer rights an item should be as described. If you bought it then found the issue you would be able to reject it because of that.

I'm steering well clear of the EcoBoost engine now from what I've read about the wet cam belt.

They are asking 7900 for it which I think is to high.

Why do you need a non return valve next to the stop cock?

If you cant easily replace the original stopcock for a new one then maybe change the ballofix valve above it for a second stopcock. The other ballofix valves I would change for lever valves or butterfly valves(tee ball).
