    aye you dont need anything particulary strong,for what you want to do .i would just remember to use some mastic to seal all the edges. i know this might sound obvious aswell but, remember to mark where your battens are prior to screwing the boards on .

    seen the way the americans do the same job? they batten out fill in with insulation of choice,then use a vapour barrier,sealing all the joins with tape,and stick down the bottom with a good sealant.just board over the top as normal.

    using plaster to fill holes

    he might be thinking of gyproc easy fill which is like polyfilla.in future practice striking off flusher with the filla you use,which can cut down on sanding.

    to me its a bit like using the fat to fill in voids,which is retempred plaster ? which in turns weakens the gypsum ?...over the top tech wise :D

    roughcaster me and a mate would talk about things like this over a pint haha ..do you find that using a clean water bucket soon needs cleaning doing big jobs and your applying dirty water back to the wall ?...my mate rekons it makes no diff,just nice to hear differences of opinion. cheers

    just started using a spray bottle,i get the **** taken out of me coz it says dettol on the side haha. the difference with using a spray is you dont apply dirty water back on the wall like you would a brush.
