Should I move cold water tank to loft????

Hi, I've been reading some of the forums and I'm not sure as to whether moving my cold water tank into the loft would give me a better shower. I have a straightforward mixer shower, the bath taps have the hose coming from the top. The pipes to the bath are those flexi types. The hot water...

    Installing power shower

I've read here http://www.plumbworld.co.uk/191-0000 That power showers are not compatible with mains cold water. Can anyone tell me why this is please. It also says that some require an electrical connection. Can anyone explain why some do and some dont. I assume the electrical supply is to...

    Insulating my loft

Thanks for the reply. What are the eaves? Also, getting the joists upgraded seemed like too much work and money. I don't plan to work up there all day every day, I was just hoping to put a computer table up there with a chair. Maybe a sofa bed so I could maybe use it for people to stop over...

    Insulating my loft

Thanks for the reply. My concern is about ventalation and something I read about a vapour something or other. Do I just staple the insulation between the rafters, from the top to the bottom and then nail plaster board over the rafters Thanks Graham

    Insulating my loft

Hi I'm interested in insulating my loft to use as storage space/office. I have some really old fibre glass between the joists. Do I simply board over them and insulate the rafters? If so, what thickness board shall I use and how do I insulate the rafters? Any help is greatly appreciated...

    Insulating my loft

Hi, I'm interested in insulating my loft and putting down some boards so I can use it as usefull storage space, maybe as an small office. The insulation that is already down is inadequate. I've seen some postings that say to insulate only the between the rafters but I want to be able to stop the...

    Installing new shower

What about the fact that the cold water is at a higher pressure than the hot. Will fitting a pump fix that? I really wanna take the cheapest option to be honest Thanks

    Installing new shower

Right. What does "with that head of water" mean. Would it be better/cheaper to put a new CW tank in the loft What about a thermostat mixer shower Thanks Graham

    Installing new shower

Yeah thats correct. The main comes in at the kitchen, goes up into the bath room and then splits, one end going to CW tank, the other then also splits again, one going back downstairs to kitchen and the other going to bath/shower (not sure which is first), the bathroom sink and then the toilet...

    Installing new shower

Hi all, I have a very basic mixer shower. It has a dial in the middle, which when I turn it anti-clockwise, it opens a valve and lets all the cold water through. The more I turn it, it then opens another valve and lets the hot water through. I can only adjust the hot water coming through...

    Constant bleeding of radiators

I will, do I hold the glass under the pipe that loops over the CH expansion tank Thanks

    Constant bleeding of radiators

I don't think it is the cold feed, no water can get into the open end. It just loops over the CH expansion tank. Also it splits off the 22mm pipe that carries the hot water just before the pump. The only thing after the pump is the 3 port value, one way goes into the hot water tank, which...

    Constant bleeding of radiators

If I remember right, a 22mm pipe comes from the boiler and just before it goes into the pump, it splits off to a 15mm pipe, this 15mm pipe is what I think is the expansion pipe, it basically sits over the CH expansion tank. Is this the vent your talking about? Would the pump go immediatly...

    Constant bleeding of radiators

Thanks for the reply EliteHeat, I made sure the pump is in the right way (at least I think) the arrow points towards the 3pv, which I assume represented the flow of the water. Would putting the cold water tank in the loft make mush a difference though, I mean it will only be about 3-4 foot higher

    Constant bleeding of radiators

Can anyone help me please. Since moving into my house (1900 victorian end terrace) I have had constant problems with my central heating. It's an old style stored hot water cylinder with CH expansion tank above it in the airing cupboard and cold water storage above that (still in airing cupboard...
