Laying 21mm engineered oak for the first time.

Hi, How long has your concrete floor been down? A general rule of thumb for concrete drying times is for every 1” (25mm) depth of concrete, 1 month’s drying time should be allowed. Check that your floor is completely level and flat. I'm not familiar with engineered wood floors as I fit...

Howdens tile effect laminate vs Wickes

Hi, I've never fitted any laminate flooring purchased from Howdens, but I have from Wickes and I have to say the quality of it is not great. The wear layer scratches easily and even when trying to join two boards together, it chips easily. Do you know anyone who has a trade account with...

    Laminate floor recommendations

Personally, I would stay away from the shed's own laminates and go for a quality brand like Quickstep. It is more expensive but I feel it has a tougher wear layer than others. I've had it down in my parents house for nearly 12 years now, and it still looks good as new.

So the carpet was stuck down to the laminate flooring with a type of double sided tape, and it's left a sticky residue? You could try squirting some WD40 on to it and leaving for a few minutes, and then use a plastic scraper to get it off.
