    looks like a brand new boiler then.. I'm surprised Grant will not sell us the exchanger seperately. Are you suggesting we get the pluber to remove it, and then take it to a welder? sounds promising.. I think the cracks both inside and outside as its leaking.

    You've solved it for me Namsag, Thanks all working perfectly now! My own stupid fault I read a post on here after searching diaphragm replacement, a poster mentioned opening the boiler drain screw! Only 1 post out of all the 50 or so on here regarding replacing a diaphragm! Just my luck...

    The filling loop is working ok. Do I need to let more water in? As the pressure gauge isn't moving after opening the loop screw for 4 seconds. (I did drain a couple of litres before fitting the diphragm) Do I need to open the automatic air vent screw?

    ok then, I've investigated the loft above kitchen; I found the following; - Couldn't see any break or damaged cables. - I noticed the earth coming from the ceiling rose was going knowhere...! - I traced the wires back as shown in the pix and they ended up going down to the fuse box...

    Yes, it was a house and then converted into 3 flats in 2002. The flat is on the second and third floor (converted loft) Amazing how you can determine that from a kitchen light. Above the kitchen light is a small loft space in the eaves with rockwool between the joists.(no floor boards)...

    Ok then guys, I've now moved the brown wire into the red as requested. Turned power back on... still didn't work. (see photos) whats the next step in the investigation? I have added som photies of the old lamp which may help.
