Where is most likely that bay window roof is leaking?

It's an old house, possibly around 1910 I think. I think the original bay roof is metal of some sort, this has been covered with roofing felt which has lots of holes in it. It also looks like the wood under the roof is not completely sealed to the Brickwork, I'm wondering if it could be...

Thanks for your help, is that the case if I have only just stopped the leak? Or should I give it chance to dry before trying to push it again?

Had a dishwasher leak, should i remove chipboard?

I am thinking it could be worse under the tiles as it would stay wetter for longer.

Had a dishwasher leak, should i remove chipboard?

It's a small patch in what is a not very load bearing area, one foot of the fridge sits on it. It could have been leaking for years, but there's no hole, I can just about push my thumb into it if trying very hard, but not right through. Im not really worried about the chipboard itself just the...

How thick is the party wall in an 1880s stone house?

I need to drill them to fit coat hooks. Last time I tried this I remember having trouble getting a good fixing. You can hear quite a lot through the walks so I guess they aren't very thick. I don't want to drill right through to next doors!

Whats the quickest way to patch plasterboard

Hi, I have a hole I need to patch, I don't live there so want to do it in one quick go if possible. What's the best way please? Also I think the cavity could do with some insulation at the end before I fit the plasterboard, is it a good idea to put some rockwool in a strong bin bag and stuff...

What should I do with a small damp patch?

Hi, I'm wondering if part of the problem is condensation from a cold patch caused by it just being plasterboard covering the end of the cavity? Would it do any harm to push a bit of rockwool in there? Before putting the plasterboard back. Possibly put the rockwool in a strong bin liner so it...

Is it worth making or renovating an old gate or should I buy a new one?

Hi, thanks for your help, I have nearly finished, just wondering of a throw over rope type catch is ok when there's a large dog on one side? Actually I have a bit of chain knocking about too so I guess I could use that. I have had problems with the click in latches and bolts on gates as they...

Would a car radiator fan work better if it didnt blow the hot air back on the engine?

Hi, after a while the top hose is too hot to touch. Also I have re connected the fan and it does come on. I can't see oil in the coolant. I had a look online and it looks like I could test to see if the water pump is working but I would need a special funnel to see if there's bubbles in the...
