    Concrete slab & insulation

I expect you are correct, for some reason I always think "slab" but strip foundation seems sensible. I was also pondering reinforced concrete piers but that creates different problems...

    Travis Perkins

After posting this I rang them. I wonder if they actually employ people that understand accountancy. I was told I shouldn't be receiving a statement showing unallocated payments, I mused the question that if they weren't allocating payments then the account holders like myself would...

    Travis Perkins

I have a credit account with this company all of my transactions relate to the Benchmarx side of the account. I have spoken to the manager of Benchmarx who directed me to Travis Perkins Accounts Team as he couldn't fathom what has gone wrong. I have received invoices for purchases made which I...

    Concrete slab & insulation

This is the issue, I don't know anything about concrete, I'm building this for my in-laws and the father in law is over me like a hawk, so I'm thinking slab, I spoke to a builder who quoted £4440 for machines, muckaway, shuttering and reinforced slab, I thought that was alone was excessive...

If you do saw through the bolt leave the saw in place and open the door, otherwise the bolt may drop again and you'll be back in the same boat.

Patio Door lock stuck in locked position

The Key is a Star Bolt Key, try buying a new one before employing a lock smith. Try jiggling the door as your turn the key or lift the key up and down, side to side to engage it with the splines. Also you can take the cover plate off and see if you can see the splines of the lock through the...

    City Plumbing

Transpires the "Terms" weren't set up on my account, but that to my mind doesn't explain the price difference in a 30 day period - suspicious! Branch manager was very apologetic when presented with the evidence and credited the differences and promised to reinstate or set up Terms. Small...

    City Plumbing

I understand the bigger businesses get better terms, that's is not my point. Why have a trade counter and invite tradespeople to open accounts if they are then going to shaft us as we aren't the Big Boys? Doesn't happen in Tescos does it, oh the person in front spend £500 on their shopping but...

    Diamond Core drill

Not really out of choice more out of frustration. The extension was built so close to the neighbours extension I couldn't do the hole from outside. With bricks so hard I'd normally drill the circumference of the hole with sds bits and punch it out from outside, but you can't do that from inside...

    Diamond Core drill

I've got this exact model, I've used it for 6 inch core holes. Often it's a combination of substrate and core bit, cheap core bits are cr&p, if your coring wet brick then it's awful, if your coring flint you need this drill, 2 core bits and a bucket of swear words. I core five inches into...

    Decking query

I wouldn't buy decking from Marketplace from a mate of a mate of a mate, there is probably a bad reason it's so cheap. If you a serious about quality I'd invite to to Google Jacksons Fencing, they are based in Kent but do distribute. Redwood isn't fancy, it's just a name, Redwood/Whitewood...

    Completion Certificate

Around 2010 my sister bought a house which had previously had a loft conversion. The sellers didn't have a Completion Certificate for the loft conversion that was carried out in the year 2000, apparently the reason being is that the council don't always issue them, so instead my sister took...

We had a similar issue, the lead flashing appeared good, the pointing appeared sound the cap appeared good. We had a roofing company out that applied waterproofing to the stack which solved the ingress of water.

    Deck Screws

Just get a crowbar and pull the boards up, you'll be there for a month of Sundays trying to find the old screws and another month trying to get them out. Thereafter you can hit the screws with a hammer as if to bend them and they generally snap. Wear eye protection.
