Plastic surface pattresses - best way to create cable holes?

This is probably quite obvious, but... Basically I'm often fiddling about with ethernet, satellite and general socket/switch connections in my loft, and I make use of quite alot of the surface mount plastic pattress boxes, such as this: Now, I know they have "weakened" bits in the base...

TV/Sat/FM Triplexers - noticeable negative impact on signal?

Anyone with any views on Triplexer/combiner quality? To go with the MK Triplexer above, I'm thinking of the following Labgear Quadruplexer (although I would only be using one of the FM/DAB side of things)...

TV/Sat/FM Triplexers - noticeable negative impact on signal?

The triplexer is a double, but the version I'm looking at also includes a standalone F-connector. It's this one (further down from the one I linked to at the very start of this thread): MK's K5854-DAB (second from the right): http://www.electrika.com/products/m/man-0290/pdfcat/mk-06-107.pdf...

TV/Sat/FM Triplexers - noticeable negative impact on signal?

I'm wondering that too, but when you physically look at what needs to go down the conduit with all these together, it looks like it's going to be tight. Possible though... However, this would cause me a bit of a problem at the wall-plate - the MK wall-plate "triplexer+additional F-connector"...

TV/Sat/FM Triplexers - noticeable negative impact on signal?

Well...this is my current thinking :D . I've decided I'm going to fit a dual LNB in place of my single (just to complicate things a bit more), so that gives me one 17mm internal diameter conduit and the following required connections : 2 x Satellite connections 2 x Cat5 cables 1 x TV 1...

TV/Sat/FM Triplexers - noticeable negative impact on signal?

Excellent - thanks, didn't know that existed. So...it seems to be greater loss, but only really over extended distances. I'm tempted to give this a go and, if I suffer issues, I should be able to pull it back up quite easily and then maybe try one of its pairs + some ordinary CT100 for the...

TV/Sat/FM Triplexers - noticeable negative impact on signal?

An additional question relating to all of this... Is there a coax, with the same/better characteristics than the usual CT100 spec, but that's thinner in diameter to make it easier for me in the conduit? Cost isn't much of an issue as there will only be about 4m X2 of it to cover the wall...

TV/Sat/FM Triplexers - noticeable negative impact on signal?

The internal diameter of the conduit is 17mm. At the moment I have 3 coax cables (TV, FM and Sat) and one ethernet cable stuffed down there. That was "a bit of an effort" - much swearing, push/pulling and washing-up liquid involved in getting that to happen (umm...sounds slightly dodgy now I...

TV/Sat/FM Triplexers - noticeable negative impact on signal?

Oh dear, that doesn't sound too promising... Basically I need to ensure at least "good" DVB-T and DVB-S signals as, respectively, they will be feeding two twin tuner DVB-T PVRs and a single tuner DVB-S PVR. This I manage averagely at the moment on the DVB-T side with my current dodgy...

TV/Sat/FM Triplexers - noticeable negative impact on signal?

Due to limited conduit space to my lounge TV-point, I'm thinking of using a combiner/triplexer in order that I can have a single cable in the wall to combine my Satellite, FM and TV connections. So...in the loft I'm thinking of one of these...

    Standby Plug for TV ?

I'd be interested in this too... Not that I'm saying it's not a worthy activity to avoid wasting any electricity, from both an environmental and money saving point of view, but some of the figures that seem to be bandied about with regard to stand-by consumption do not even closely match...

    Standby Plug for TV ?

Except, of course, there's a reason that some things have a standby mode, and that's for non-attended/scheduled wake-up to do something e.g. a video recorder set on its timer, for example. For my part I have a TV, home cinema amp, HTPC and PVR connected in my front-room. Neither of the last...

Small basins - pointers and recommendations?

[/url] Ahh, that's interesting - thanks :D . That's the first "proper" basin I've seen of a very small size and definitely something worth sizing up. I'm still intrgued by something that might fit into a cavity wall...anyone know of any info available on-line? Doubtless this isn't a...

Small basins - pointers and recommendations?

Well, alot of searching around and I've still not thrown-up much. Any idea where I might be able to find a basin that can slots into a cavity wall?

Small basins - pointers and recommendations?

Now, I had thought of that too, although largely based on seeing that type of basin in supermarkets/McDonalds etc :? However...I couldn't find any when searching - any idea where you might find such a thing? I feel like I'm missing a key term here in searching for examples on-line - such as...

Oooo...good idea, wouldn't have thought of that! A bit of Googling with "caravan" does indeed throw up some possibles...thanks.

Small basins - pointers and recommendations?

I've been toying with the idea of fitting a small hand basin in our separate toilet - we live in a 50s bungalow with a separate toilet/bathroom, and it seems to have been the vogue to have a toilet without any direct means of washing your hands... The thing is, space is very limited in the...

BT Master Socket - can NTE5 extensions interfere with ADSL?

As further feedback to the above, I had a stable ASDL connection running from the front of the NTE5 socket for about an hour or so until I disconnected it, I then tried the same previously problematic Sagem modem on one of the extensions and it also connected first time and gave a stable...

BT Master Socket - can NTE5 extensions interfere with ADSL?

Well...what I can now say is this. Went to the property in question and connected up the Sagem Speedfast modem, that has never really worked there, into the front socket of the NTE5. No surprise...no ADSL connection. Pulled the front-plate and connected it to the test socket...seemingly...
