Siemens SI 14.44 iQ700 washing machine reset for an F43 error

Hi. We have a Siemens WI14S440GB washing machine - aka SI 14.44. It threw an F43 error the day, so I've taken it to bits and replaced the brushes (both of which had worn to under 10mm) - but the F43 persists. The new brushes are installed correctly and in contact with the commutator and the...

Siemens dishwasher won't start / odd behaviour / leaks

@Engineer42 You're welcome. But just bear in mind as mentioned in the updates to the thread that using a sealant might still fail again in the long term, and the proper additional silicone seal kit is the way I would now recommend doing it as it will cope with the harsh conditions far better...

Glow Worm 18HXI leaking condensate and CO

Just to close the loop, repair all sorted. It wasn't as bad as it looked. The flue adapter had failed in exactly the same way as the YouTube video - a crack from the stub from when the part was moulded. I notice the new part has been reinforced with a thicker band of plastic. @snb - thanks...

Glow Worm 18HXI leaking condensate and CO

Thanks for getting back to me - I think we might just take a punt on a repair. Because BG missed out the inspection last year, there is a possibility it has been leaking a while so if it does turn up anything genuinely nasty, I'll examine and photograph it myself so I have the option of getting...

Glow Worm 18HXI leaking condensate and CO

Thanks. To be clear, they aren't saying they won't fix it within the cover we have - there is a slot booked in to attempt the fix on Monday. What they are saying is they don't know what they are going to find when they dig it out - which is a fair enough observation when I can't see with the...

Glow Worm 18HXI leaking condensate and CO

Just found a YouTube video - I see what you mean!

Glow Worm 18HXI leaking condensate and CO

Thanks - worth doing then do you think given its age? My concern is that BG might still condemn it with corrosion up the back of the case.

Glow Worm 18HXI leaking condensate and CO

Finally had BG out to do the annual service on our boiler which we didn't get last year. We had the check booked in but it was cancelled twice by BG at the last minute due to other demands through the covid situation. The boiler was found to have a problem when it was checked yesterday. I...

    Mysterious soil pipe blockage

Well, I'm glad I did have it checked. Got the pros in this morning and the dry inlet to the front rodding point has a completely collapsed and blocked pipe 3.6M in - which unfortunately is under our concrete hall floor close to where the soil pipe goes vertical. So there MUST be a cavity in the...

    Economy 7 blip?

In our flat, the immersion heater on E7 doesn't appear to have kicked in overnight on just one occasion earlier this week, needing the top (boost) immersion heater to be switched on. All has been back to normal since. The storage heaters on E7 were turned off, so we don't know if it was...

Fire door replacement in flats - regs and costs

I'd assumed FD30 that being the minimum, but I've asked for breakdown of the cost anyway - so it should be apparent if they have gone for FD60. With it being over 55s, I guess that's possible.

I see - thanks for the clarification Woody.

Fire door replacement in flats - regs and costs

Thanks Woody - I believe they have an assessment done, and are acting in good faith on the need for the replacement. I'm comfortable with the position on door closers, but not so clear on hold open devices. i.e. it would seem they would have to fit hold open devices to at least the communal...

Fire door replacement in flats - regs and costs

It is leasehold, and they have served the section 20 notice which is what has prompted me to look into the cost.

    Mysterious soil pipe blockage

Agreed - whilst I think I know what is going on now, I still intend to get it mapped and checked.

    Mysterious soil pipe blockage

Finally got around to a bit more diagnosis on this. Thought I might as well open up the box section in the hall where the soil pipe is, cut a rodding point in and at least take a look myself before I admit defeat and call the pros in to do a mapping job. Only a couple of things of note: 1...

Fire door replacement in flats - regs and costs

We own a flat close on 40 years old and the management company are replacing all the communal fire doors and also mandating the replacement of the individual flat outer doors too. The doors have never been changed on any of the flats, they have a wired glass window, look a bit on the ugly side...
