How to get speaker wire to in ceiling kitchen speakers?

Hi all, After much thought I have decided it's best to replace my Sonos Play 5 with a spare Connect:Amp and some in-ceiling speakers in the kitchen primarily for stereo sound and to avoid the power cable from the Play 5 to the socket. I have attached two images showing the ground and first...

Repointing garden wall - bit of a mess

Tony, great. Already decided from an aesthetic point to have him stop but the "technical" reasons make sense. Thanks a lot.

Repointing garden wall - bit of a mess

Hi Tony, thanks for your honesty. Its good to know that its beyond repair but for the moment i think ill ask him to leave the wall. Its a big job and one i dont have the stomach to entertain yet. If the wall degrades further then ill deal with it but its been standing for over 100 years.....

Repointing garden wall - bit of a mess

Hi all, My father in law has tried to be helpful and repoint the garden wall. Its a victorian house and i didnt think there was much wrong with the wall, it has character. Hes done a small section which has left the bricks gray. I assume the colour will go after washed but the render off...

Washing machine tripping RCD - advice please

The pictured switch trips and is pointing downwards which means all the sockets in the house power down until I flick it back. A couple of servers but i have remembered that they are powered down currently. I shall test this tomorrow by switching off the power on the majority of the sockets...

Washing machine tripping RCD - advice please

Hi there, I recently moved in to a new house and have found over the last two weeks the washing machine (which is fairly old) keeps tripping the RCD. I know little about electrics so I was hoping for some advice. In the attached screen shot the switch that trips is the one on the left...

Offer made on a property with an unfinished loft

Surveyor is going in on Monday so he'll have a view on it. I don't have much faith now based on surveyors comments based on the information I have given him. If the mortgage company picks up on it then they may have a problem with it and then I will have to deal with it again when I sell it on...

Offer made on a property with an unfinished loft

That's right, I checked planning and found nothing for the property over the last 6 or so years but as this is a permitted development so it won't appear under planning. Building control helped as I mentioned above.

Offer made on a property with an unfinished loft

I called building control and they don't have anything for the loft room or the kitchen though they weren't too bothered about the kitchen saying, "if it was going to fall down already it would have" though I did notice that the lintel when they have knocked through to the out house or extended...

Offer made on a property with an unfinished loft

Will do. The kitchen was extended so I would like to know whether they had that signed off too which will probably give me the angle in. Many thanks.

Offer made on a property with an unfinished loft

Would calling building control alert them to this and cause a stink? Good posts no easy option here I suppose. Depends on the cost. I'll start with my homebuyer survey and alert him to my concerns as well as calling building control and see what happens.

Offer made on a property with an unfinished loft

Hi Big Al. Would that mean that I couldn't use the space as a study from a legal and health and safety perspective? I suppose I run the risk that the floor won't support the weight. What kind of guarantee would I seek, would a letter be sufficient? If it is all good then I suppose...

Offer made on a property with an unfinished loft

I have had an offer accepted on a Victorian house. The estate agent markets it as a three bed "+ loft room" which to me means that it is does not conform to building regs. It has a single velux facing the rear, no dormer so on the face of it is a permitted development. There is a proper...
