Johnmelad, I have experience in this field and it is definitely a specialists job, with true dry rot the extent usually goes a lot further than is just seen on the surface. There has to be a source of water as well, see if there is any signs of that, but again my advice is get a specialist...

They are all ok like pretty much elsewhere in the UK, draw the line at London having had to live and work there for a short while, but I prefer the North and East Yorkshire areas above all.
