What type of staple gun and staples for wood

Thanks for the advice that's really helpful. There is no need for me t get the roof replaced, its in a good condition. Its a Victorian house with no felt and as such the loft obviously gets dirty, but this does not mean the roof is no good. The membrane will just help to keep the boarding...

What type of staple gun and staples for wood

Its not felt, its just breathable plastic, which I am told is similar to weed suppressant. it is simply to limit the dirt that falls from the tiles.

Best way to atach breathable membrane to roof rafters

I am going to buy some membrane to attach to roof rafters to try keep the loft and outhouse a bit cleaner, due to the debris and dirt that falls from the tiles. I was planning on buying a staple gun to attach the membrane, but one person commented that staples might not hold the membrane. Any...

What type of staple gun and staples for wood

Really, why do you think the staples will be no good for holding membrane? Sounds like nailing it is too problematic, given the roofs and tiles are old and I don't want to make a mess with the tiles.

What type of staple gun and staples for wood

I want to staple some breathable membrane plastic to some wood rafters in an outhouse and loft, what type of staple gun will be powerful enough to pin it to the wood? And what size and type of staples are needed? Thanks in advance.

Roof with no felt - how to stop backpointing and debris

Sounds like breathable membrane will be fine then. Can anyone recommend a brand and cheapest place to buy it? Thanks a lot.

Roof with no felt - how to stop backpointing and debris

What happens if condensation builds up? And where would it build up? I was not planning on necessarily covering the whole of the roof, instead I would leave about 50cm of rafters and tiles exposed at each end of the loft. The centre of the loft and the area above the loft hatch would have...

Roof with no felt - how to stop backpointing and debris

Going to buy some plastic membrane as suggested above, in order to try keep loft and outbuilding a little cleaner. Probably a stupid question but the membrane doesn't go immediately below the roof tiles does it, it gets stapled to the bottom of the rafters, which means an inevitable space...

Roof with no felt - how to stop backpointing and debris

My house is victorian and in the loft you can see roof tiles are exposed. I had the loft boarded out so we can use it for storage, but there is always lots of back pointing and dirt etc all over the floor. This then messes up the landing below when i open the loft hatch. I was thinking of...

Vinyl Question - worst case scenario...

Thanks Gus, I was just going to risk using the normal Dulux Brilliant White Matt emulsion as opposed to contract or super matt, and of course I will wait till the plaster has turned light, but given that a section of it was rendered and then skimmed, is there a chance that the skimmed plaster...

    Wallpapering Rendered Wall

Thats great. So basically its a bit of a risk, but worse case scenario it will just mean gaps may show between rolls, which if i understand you right can be to an extent remedied by colouring in between the gaps. The wallpaper is flock so not sure it is washable, but I presume you could just...

    Damp and Water Seal Help

I was just going to paint it on a patch of external wall. Ive also had a little section of pointing done where it had fallen out. There are about four rows of bricks outside where the pointing is darker / looks damp, starting about three rows up from the ground. I thought that maybe the water...

Vinyl Question - worst case scenario...

I have been going back and forth regarding the issue of what paint to use on damp proofed walls. Basically i had a room skimmed, but there was one section which was rendered also - injected, rendered and skimmed. I will be painting it after about two weeks of the plastering being done and so i...

    Damp and Water Seal Help

Hi, I live in a victorian terraced house, dining room looks out on to the yard, yard is lower / few steps down from house. In the corner of the room (corner of external and side of house) there has been a damp patch for years, about 30/40cm wide. On the outside of the external wall adjacent to...

    Wallpapering Rendered Wall

Hi everyone, I have just had my chimney breast skimmed, but here were a few sections on the chimney breast which were a little damp, where old gas lamps had been apparently and the holes had been filled, but not very well. In these sections the plasterer knocked out the old mortar and did do...

    Making Better Use of Outhouse

I have a brick (single layer) outhouse in my back yard that I want to make better use of. One of its walls is essentially the end of the terraced house, another wall is the dividing garden wall to the house next door and the other is the wall of the old coal shed (so essentially someone...
