    Tall, thin up light

Thanks everyone for reply. Some interesting suggestions. The thin LED that has a light along its length is something I’ve come across before but too big a cost to test it out. Prefer up light rather than along length of wall. Came across this but can’t find it anywhere - tall thin chrome up...

    Drip Edge advice

Hi all We had windows and doors installed a few years back. Great lads, great jobs - no problems. There was a concrete step flush with the exit to the utility so the French door doesn’t have a drip edge. But now I’ve removed the step - putting in a patio and wondering what the best advise...

Hi Question: How do I go about blocking up my flue with EPS balls? Background: Standard, 1950s, semi-D, with four chimneys (2 up, 2 down). Upstairs ope blocked years ago. I’ve read that you should block the bottom of the flue with a piece of wood, send EPS balls down the flue, and then block...

    How to kill this?

That was exactly the purpose. The designer person we had was mad for this but we knew it wouldn’t be used for that. Not least as there’s no ventilation and it would be a source of mould. thanks for that advice. Is there a particular product that caps them?

    Tall, thin up light

Thanks for that. See pic below. It’s a tall floor standing lamp that I’m seeking. I’ve tried to put in a low level up light - but it created too much of a shadow so it’s a tall one I need. It’s very tight so the normal uplighters are just too wide and it hits on the curtains. Any advice...

    SWA Drive

Laying an electric cable - that is not terminated at any end - is not a restricted electric work. As you’ve quoted from my previous post, I’ll get a RECI to finish the work. Point made as above. With regards to laying the cable, I never intimated that I would put both into the same duct. I...

SWA 3 x 16mm Garden Room Thanks guys. He was charging €1200 inc VAT and so €1040 ex VAT. I bought the cable for €420 ex VAT - that means €620. ext VAT [€700 to me] to bore two holes, not connect (for safety's sake) to the consumer unit, and not lay or trench or anything else...just leave the...

    SWA Drive

Good suggestion. I hadn't planned to - I had just read that too bog can be as much of a problem. Any general rule of thumb for what I'm laying. They'll be standard garden lights - Id imagine LED. Don't know what they'll be yet. 3 x 10mm? 3 x 2.5mm? 3 x 4mm?

Just to check. Do you need an electrician to install a garden light outdoors? I’ll be getting the sparks to connect the the swa to the consumer unit - no doubt about that. But I wouldn’t have thought that garden lights would need a sparks?
