    can anyone help to put the answer to the following into words? on a dual rcd board with sockets up and down on different sides one rcd will trip however if moved so both socket circuits are on one side of rcd the rcd will function correctly explain the reason why the rcd trips?

    all test readings came out fine, except there is a d type voltage operated rcd that are outdated now i believe, and its a overhead supply with a ze reading of 229 ohms

    cant see the size of fuse worn away just said bs88, back of socket was blown checked all fuse wire was right size no tin foil or nails etc.. thought age was a consideration, has to been there since house was built about 70 year ish cant think of anyother reason.

    what would cause the main bs88 fuse to blow? whilst plugging in a tv there was a bang and electric went off and would not reset. old rewireable fuse type and all fuses were ok but the main service fuse had gone.

    just installed a dimmer switch in bedroom for walllight and although it works, something is not right.. turn on its fine turn up about half way its fine but about half turn and light goes off completely, then as you continue to turn light comes back on but flickers ? help please..........

    there is a plan for them to be installed everywhere by 2020 so im told. recruitment companys like rig, vital etc are handling the contracts for uu they just had a recruitment drive for new installers covering the country.

    so i can alter or add to a circ in bathroom without providing an rcd but must ensure supp and main bond is ok but if i introduce a new circuit then it must be rcd - is that correct :)
