Boiler Saga Continues - Probable Leak...(Update 24/12/20 - Trace and Access visit)

Hi, yes BG have been out 3 times looking at the boiler and the expansion vessel in particular. I'm not convinced how much fault finding they did as they were there for around an hour.

Boiler Saga Continues - Probable Leak...(Update 24/12/20 - Trace and Access visit)

Update. ADI Leak Detection came in yesterday to look at the system. Initial tests with a thermal imaging camera and damp meter inconclusive so on to the gas tracer. Water drained from the system and gas pumped in, he found.....absolutely nothing. There was no trace of gas leakage anywhere in...

Boiler Saga Continues - Probable Leak...(Update 24/12/20 - Trace and Access visit)

Is that why you used 10 cans of the stuff? Does it all go in at the same time?

Boiler Saga Continues - Probable Leak...(Update 24/12/20 - Trace and Access visit)

Ahh right I'm with you. That's not something you could easily do crawling in a tiny gap under the floor then! Taking the entire floor up at the moment definitely isn't an option currently. It might be easier in circa 6 months time depending on regs. The biggest problem it's doubtful to be done...

Boiler Saga Continues - Probable Leak...(Update 24/12/20 - Trace and Access visit)

So you think it's a case of complete change of pipe work under the floor or a complete change of plastic joints? I was still kind of working under the assumption it was one leak. A complete upheaval regardless makes me question things.

Boiler Saga Continues - Probable Leak...(Update 24/12/20 - Trace and Access visit)

Wow that stuff looks incredible! Ideally, like you said it's best to spend the money now for a permanent fix? I don't really have the option to take the entire floor up with an 18 month old running around, otherwise that would be the best option. The specialist can at least pinpoint the leak and...

Boiler Saga Continues - Probable Leak...(Update 24/12/20 - Trace and Access visit)

Hi all. I decided to bite the bullet and get the specialists in. They are coming on Wednesday so I have until first thing Tuesday to find the leak and cancel or let them come in and do their thing. I've got a stethoscope to try and hear anything and I'll give it a try tomorrow. One weird...

    Pyronix Deltabox - Stupid Question...

@Handymanjo Hi, just another quick one, does the wireless module come with an LED light that comes on when the alarm is switched on or is that another module required?

Thanks very much for that, that makes much more sense. It's a lot more expensive than I thought it was going to be though :ROFLMAO:.

    Pyronix Deltabox - Stupid Question...

Hi all, I've got a Pyronix Enforcer alarm installed with a wired bell on the side of the house. I'd like to add an additional wireless bell on the front of the house as a deterrent. I'm comfortable with how this works, I've read through the instructions and watched a couple of videos...

Wires in cavity - cavity wall insulation

Hi guys, I've had confirmation that the material quoted for is the Energystore Superbead https://energystoreltd.com/energystore-superbead/ This is the polystyrene stuff which I'm assuming is a no go with wires in the cavity? The video does look good in terms of moisture management though, or is...

Wires in cavity - cavity wall insulation

I've emailed the company asking them to clarify what type of insulation is being quoted for but they have not got back to me yet. The wires are already there to act as a draw wire so that shouldn't be an issue then, I ran the wires prior to all plastering and have since just used existing wires...

Wires in cavity - cavity wall insulation

Yes the power socket is a spur not on the main ring. I doubt there will be a massive effect on the cables themselves, the main worry would be the issue of changing them in the future, without much knowledge of CWI, is it possible to run wires through it? In other words, would I still be able to...

Wires in cavity - cavity wall insulation

Oh wow really? That's not good, surely that's not a common fault of CWI?

Wires in cavity - cavity wall insulation

Hi all. Last week I decided to take off the old gas flue on the side of our house that was now out of use. When I took it off I noticed there was absolutely no insulation in the cavity whatsoever. We had the old gas fire removed last year and I ran some wires in the cavity to a wall mounted...

Boiler Saga Continues - Probable Leak...(Update 24/12/20 - Trace and Access visit)

Does that mean like it sounds? Lots of small pinholes?

Boiler Saga Continues - Probable Leak...(Update 24/12/20 - Trace and Access visit)

Not sure to be honest we've only been in the house 18 months. Would a re-pipe require ripping the floors up? I'm not adverse to that if it's within a similar cost. We could do with another radiator in the open plan room as well to be honest.
