    Bedroom Under Cabinet Lighting

Hi all, My wife and I have just bought a house that we're doing some work on. The master bedroom has under cabinet lighting with pull cords which is quite useful but they need changing. I cannot for the life of me find any lights that are even remotely similar! I'm thinking the best thing for...

Installing Lights Switch - Circuit Issue

Hi all, I'm doing a bit of decoration around the house, including changing all of our light switches so they're all consistent. I've done the downstairs ones which includes: Kitchen - 1 gang 1 way Hall - 2 gang 2 way (controlling upstairs and downstairs hall lights) Living Room - 1 gang...

    Damp Patch

Thanks (y) I assume the best trade to target here would be a plasterer?

    Damp Patch

Thanks for the reply. Just felt it and can't really feel a greasy texture. The paint did come off in my hands a bit. Assume hacking off the plaster would need me to get that part of the wall replastered? Is there any risk of it doing any long term damage.

    Damp Patch

Hi all, Not sure where the best place to put this query was, apologies if not the correct forum. We've had a damp patch above our fireplace for over a year now, it hasn't changed shape or got bigger. I've had a pointing guy come round thinking that it was an issue with the chimney but he...

    Stupid light wiring question

One last quick question guys. Can I get away with using insulation tape instead of sleeving for the bare earth wire? Don't fancy buying a load of it!

    Stupid light wiring question

Ha, just looked in the box that I threw in the bin after taking out "all" of the paper. It had another leaflet in which had the double box logo with the description: "Double insulated wall, ceiling or pendant light" Sorry guys. I assume I can proceed by putting the red wire to positive...

    Stupid light wiring question

This is the light fitting: http://www.habitat.co.uk/pendel%20120cm%20chrome%20pendant%20light%20fitting/pendants//fcp-product/29056 There doesn't seem to be any logos or anything similar on the instructions or the box. The wiring diagram inside however shows the live and neutral of the...

    Stupid light wiring question

Hi sparkwright thanks for the quick reply! Not sure if the new light is double insulated, please excuse my ignorance. The fitting is a simple pendant with the wires going to an terminal with only positive and negative wires. The old light fitting was metal the new one isn't. The light...

    Stupid light wiring question

Hi guys, I'm trying to change the light fitting in our front room and it's got me stumped. I assumed it would be a simple case of changing the existing live, neutral and earth from the old one into the new but not the case. The existing light was connected to a connection block with the...

    Cutting Bi-Fold Door?

Hi all, Is it possible to cut a bi-fold interior door for our bathroom? I've measured the existing door and it is: > Height - 1922 mm > Width - 730 mm > Depth - 35mm Would I get away with this and shaving 10mm off either end? Or is it not that simple...

    Towel Radiator - Flexible Connectors?

Thanks guys, I'll get the plumber in. I've had a recommendation from a family member who project manages house refurbishments so hopefully it ends up better this time. Thanks for the help :) Simon

    Towel Radiator - Flexible Connectors?

Good point Squeaky, What connectors would be needed? And I assume this would be a job for a competent plumber rather than a bumbling DIYer like myself? If so, how much would I be looking at paying?

    Towel Radiator - Flexible Connectors?

Not much play at all, especially with the tiles on. I'd probably get a bit of movement if I took the tiles off but I'd really rather not. The brackets are plastic silver things that are fixed. They can't be adjusted. Simon

    Towel Radiator - Flexible Connectors?

Hi all, I've recently had a new bathroom fitted and I decided to finish off by tiling and fitting all the bits and bobs (shower/bath panel etc). The last job I have to do it fit the towel radiator and I'm struggling. The pipes are too close to the wall to fit the radiator using the...

    Towel Radiator Help

The plumbing came first and then I tiled the wall. I've tried to pull the pipe to make it fit but there's too much resistance, making it parallel wouldn't make too much difference and pulling it too far would damage the pipe I think. Thanks for the reply, I'm not hugely confident in...
