    Move big shed

Hi N, I'm a bit older than I was when I moved lathes etc, so a bit limited. It's going over roughish ground, and I see what you mean about snagging, the floor bearers are linear so that's good, so they wouldn't stay on the 'rails' Perhaps as they are linear, I could think of the undershed being...

    Move big shed

Hi, I have to move a 10X8 ft solid built shed approx 30ft down a garden. I intend to lay scaffold planks as tracks and drag it. Any idea how much force is needed. Would a large van pull it, without burning out the clutch, or do I need a pulley system? Cheers, C

    Wiring light fitting

Hi P, I was being careful, and saw the Blue with brown jacket now switch with both switches. Then I switched the mains off again to connect the blue/brown into the fitting, casually testing it with my screwdriver light, and it came on. My kitchen is in 2x halves, and uses 2x different mains...

    Wiring light fitting

Hi, I've redecorated my kitchen, and changed the light fitting from Fluorescent to led. The new fitting connection box has 3x connections Live Neutral and GND. It's been a long time in between, and I'm not 100% sure how to connect. The fitting is controlled by a 2x way switch, and when testing...

    New bathroom mirror light needed.

Hi A, Ok, thanks, most helpful. I presume the law changed for safety, so I'll put a sign up NO SHAVING IN THE BATH that should cover it ;) I looked through my 'it may come in handy box' and found a tube for the light, cracked open the super glued shield, changed the bulb, now to get the new...

    New bathroom mirror light needed.

Hi A, Possibly Saxby, but I don't see it online anymore. Installed about 2000 I presume the law has changed, so no toothbrush charging, where do people charge theirs. C

Does anyone recognize this type of roof window with crank system?

Hi T, Does the handle wind freely, or does it just go round and round? I don't know the name of it, but it looks like if you pull that cable down it may close. C.

    New bathroom mirror light needed.

Hi J, I think this one is a Wickes type. The main fault is the bulb cover has two plastic protrusions, that poke into the fitting so it is switched off when removed, these have broken, I fixed them once, but it went out while I was having a bath so I'll get a new one. Also it is a filament...

Adding radiator 'live' none pressurised system.

Hi, Don't do it this way: Turn off the heating. Wait for the pipes to cool. Cut the pipe (proper cutter) Thumb over the end. As my old pipes are steel, the olive didn't fit, so messing about allowed hot water to come out which was too hot to hold. I ran to get some thick rubber gloves, which...

Adding radiator 'live' none pressurised system.

Hi, I looked round for High temperature isolating valves, and found some, here's a sentence from the gumph. Red Butterfly Full Bore Isolation Valves are typically used for hot water systems. The red colour is a universal indicator that the valve controls the flow of hot water within a system...

Adding radiator 'live' none pressurised system.

Hi B, If they've been ok for 20 years, and my system is 30 years, and I'm XX years, I think they'll be ok, then. Although I don't like to leave a hidden job, for others to search for in years to come. What do you think freeze, or valves? C
