Appreciate what you're saying gas1883, and it might keep someone going until the engineer arrives (personally I wouldn't recommend it to my customers) - but they'll be others that'll just keep doing it until the boiler stops and wonder why the boiler man takes an hour or more to clean it before...
does the same engineer look after both boilers??
the photocell should not need cleaning on a regular basis between services, need to find out why it's getting sooty...
I'd imagine the ends are fairly standard but I don't usually have to look this stuff up (just quote part numbers and wait for em to arrive). Just wondering if there's a pipe that fits that anyone knows of so I can get this andget the customer back on.
I didn't mind nu ways until this :-)
Serviced an Afos C7 today with the above burner on and managed to cross thread the nut connecting to the internal assembly, now need to find a replacement for the tube connecting the nozzle assembly to the Suntec oil pump.
Called Nu Way but the part is obsolete, does anyone know of a part...
I had the same problem a few months back, there are a few sellers on ebay offering speakers with scotch lock crimps for around a tenner I think, got one and worked a treat but crimps were a little cramped when putting it back together.
Not sure where you're going with this oilman - maybe I should've phrased it "many of the boilers I go to have cable supplying mains that is not heat resistant (i.e. ordinary 2.5mm or 1.5mm flat or has heat resistant sleeve). However the rounded flexible cable is difficult to identify either way...
You'll need to notify building control for the installation of the new boiler, or get an Oftec reg installer who can notify them. The burner will need to be commissioned by a competent person for your warranty.
RF unit for what? Personally I prefer hard wired controls.
Very rarely see heat...
Hi Nomini
You need to look to see whether the burner is (as oilman) suggested a Bentone. It will will be either a B9 or B11. The motors are freely available for these as are the rest of the parts. If the original problem was that the boiler made no "running" noise when you tried to start it...
He should've done a bit more than clean the burner for a service - as kriostoflampie suggested check the filter for carp and bleed it.
Things can fail by coincidence £49 doesn't sound too bad, but I'd query if it turns out to be something he changed at service (if he's honest...)
I do agree with what you're saying oilman, however I work for a company where if I don't change the nozzle I'll be up for disciplinary action(unless customer specifically asks me not to), customers seem to expect it on the service. It goes against my nature to change something that ain't...
It'll cost you more than a fiver though...if the customer provides one we'll fit it but won't guarantee it for a year as we would with a supplied and marked up nozzle.
The service should include the cleaning of the chamber and burner and pressure check as well checking the supply from tank to burner. Do mention the problems you've been having before the guy starts the service.
