HELP! I've spent all weekend messing with my (oil) central heating and now it doesnt work! I drained the system to change aTRV which seemed to go ok but when I fired the bolier up the outlet pipe got very hot but none of the rads warmed up. I have bled every valve several times - all the air seems to have stopped and water comes out (cold)I'm thinking it is probably an airlock? I've turned the boiler off as the heat doesnt havent anywhere to go. Do I call a plumber tomorrow or can I sort it myself? Thanks

turn the system off remove the screw in centre of pump.
just place a rag under it, it will only drip then replace screw and try system
also try it on afaster speed to get it going.

Blimey Charlie the pump is really hot so I have switched it off and will wait for it to cool down before messing with it. The rads are still cold though!

Bit worrying - the body of the pump (Grundfos) is actually to hot to hold - in fact it's actually hotter than the pies going into and out of it - I wonder if the npump is seizing up / knackered? Any suggestions?

if the flow pipe and pump are very hot is the pipe on the other side of the pump cooler about 12" away ?

if yes pumps airlocked.

Have a quick check to see whether there's water in the F&E tank in the loft, ball valve might've stuck.

the pipe that comes out of the top of the pump is hotter than the one fed from underneath. The top pipe goes into the motorised 3 way valve. It looks like you can isolate valves either side of the pump to remove it - would that help?

what removing it ?

where you mot valve is one side to heating other side to cylinder is their any bleed valves their ?
and have you bled them ?

No need to remove to follow seco services advice...

yes - is there any point?

Re F+E tank in the loft I've seen that blooming thing about 20 times today - it's full of water! Thanks
