    Removable bath panel - how?

Try these, whack all ten on and it will be solid but easy to take off. I think velcro would last 1 removal at the most, and be hard to do anyway. The panel won't bend so you'd be trying to seperate the entire length at once and velcro's pretty tough. Just a...

    NEW Porch - structural question.

Hi there, I'm going to be building a 1000x1600 twin pitch clay tile roof porch and even thought it doesn't need buidling control approval I still want to build it well. the final design is still unsure between single 150 skin sandstone dwarf wall to 800mm then glazed or same sandstone to full...

    Draught blowing in from windows

The easiest and most effective thing to do might be just sticking on some fleixble draught/weather strips such as these http://www.screwfix.com/search.do;jsessionid=HXY3533SMFDQ4CSTHZOCFFA?_dyncharset=UTF-8&fh_search=73216

How to lock two bathroom doors from one place???

I realise this is a bit of a silly idea but if you could find small pistons such as drum brake cylinders you could have a length of brake pipe running between them. When you open one it compresses the cylinder and forces the other shut. Probably won't work, but would be fun trying!

Make my own Casements from a book?

Hi there, I used to know an excellent joiner who made stunning windows and doors using a router table, morticer and a few clamps. I have irregular size windows and am tempted by the idea of trying my own cottage (with ovolo bar) style casements. I have the above machinery. And a respectable...

    Building my own door

MaktaMan, I think Litle italy already said why to build your own door. Sometimes we do things for the challenge and to say at the ends of it that we did it. Call it a creative outlet.

    Warping Beech Worktop. Solutions

Thanks for all the replies, I can no longer be sure it wasn't slighly cupped when I installed it, be it has certainly got worse as It pushed the sink up! but I thought that the point of staved board was that the grains could be alternated so as to stop warping. Anyway, I am going to...

RF you must have a spare bit of time on your hands and a freindly local PC, top picture! They are wired into an ordinary switch I do have a multitester but not sure of a) how good it is AVIX EST1004 or how to use it, I only ever seem to use the buzzer for continuity checking. How would I...

LED still glowinf faintly when switched off

Hi there, I recently put led bulbs ito my gu10 downlights and noticed that one of them appears to remain glowing slighly when switched off (the others go out completely after the intial cooldown) A neon tester doesn't show any current but I realise they are not exactly fool proof. I have...

    Warping Beech Worktop. Solutions

Hi there, I have a beech worktop that is starting to rise in the middle and thus push the sink up at one end and not drain. I realise that usually the worktop is fixed from underneath to the units to stop this, but the bowed area left of the sink is above a corner unit so there is no upright...

    Cladding / covering exposed beam.

I had the same problem and wasn't aware of commercially available hollowed beams. Don't go down the planks with a hewed look, it never ever lloks original. I Got a beam from ebay with dimensions that allowed 2" all around the RSJ, used a chainsaw to cut along the length (using nailed battens...

Does my Oven have the correct Cable?

Hi there, Just in the middle of a prexmas clean and the missus insisted cleaning behind the oven. I thought the cable might not be the right one for the job. It looks like ordinary grey cable (take the cover off the back and you can see it is twin and earth) and it shows 6.0 on the outer...

    Theoretical question

This is entertaining stuff, carry on! I went to uni, graduated with a decent degree. What use was it? FA Whatdid I learn? FA! Everything of worth that I have learnt has been from the man on the street (not literally one man ;-). I've never met a working man who thinks he's better because...
