They aren't top of the range nor bottom of the range, you need to look at the specs and decide which is the best for you. The HDD is a significant part of the cost. As for support that is upto the manufacturer and they could pull it tomorrow or support for 20 years there is no way I can know...

there are various models so M4 allows 4 HDDs an M2 2 hard drives the more specific you are the better the match can be made. DS-7608NXI-K1/8P(D) for example would work but not much scope later on but much cheaper than an M series
