We do get ripped off here but at least we don't have to pay 7 euros for a beer (as in Norway). There definitely are more expensive places than the UK, and places in which some things cost more than here while we may pay more for other things.

This won't necessarily work! I'd be very wary of 'playing them at their own game', it might just make the situation worse. However, if all other avenues have been tried and the problems still persist...
