    Shed Foundations

Given a 19' x 16' shed, will 4" concrete atop DPM and 1" of sand, all on compacted earth be enough of a solid base, or do I also need to lay down a few inches of quarry scalping? It's for woodworking, and at some point in the future I'll be hoping to house a lathe and a table saw in there...

    Timber Roof Spans

That makes sense. Thanks Himaginn I've another question I'd like to ask I'm going to build a shed 18' x 14', but I might go for 18' x 16'. Will I be able to buy timber that's 16' in length? Or will I need to attach two pieces together?

    Timber Roof Spans

Thanks Himaginn! Is a flat roof (with slight gradient for rain run off) the same thing as a mono pitched roof, or is it different?

    Timber Roof Spans

I am building a wooden shed measuring either 18' x 14' (5.4mts x 4.2mts) or it might end up being 19' x 15' (5.7mts x 4.5mts). The shed will have a mono pitched roof. I'm having a bit of difficulty finding the correct sizes to use for the roofing joists. About all I know is it has to be C16...

    Shed Foundations (moved from Projects)

The joists are 4"x2" but was considering 4"x4" for added rigidity The shed is for woodworking and sometime in the future I hope to have a lathe in there. Not sure if OSB on those joists will support the weight though.

    Shed Foundations (moved from Projects)

I was thinking of going with the following set up: So a 4 ft gap between the slabs and a total of 30 slabs used. Is the 4 ft gap too wide, should I go with a 2 ft gap?

    Shed Foundations (moved from Projects)

To be honest, I am not really sure. This is the first time I've done anything like this. About all I know, is that the gaps between floor joists shouldn't be more than around 16" apart. Even then I'm not too sure about that.

    Shed Foundations (moved from Projects)

I'm probably going to use concrete slabs laid on pits of gravel. How many slabs will I need for a shed's 20'x16' foundation?

    Shed Foundations (moved from Projects)

I'm building a 22' x 16' wooden shed but not sure which base to go for. I'm seriously considering an all concrete base but it's expensive, so, I'm also considering using breeze blocks instead. Would breeze blocks be a solid enough foundation? Any advice would be appreciated Thank you

    Running Electricity to a Shed

I'm going to be building a shed and I'd like to have electricity running in it for power tools (carpentry stuff). I haven't got a clue what to do but my nephew is an electrician so I'm sure he'll set things up for me. That said, I'd like to get your thoughts and advice as well. What I'll need...

    Nail Gun Recommendation

I'm looking for a nail gun but being new to all this, I'm not sure which to go for. I'll need one for nailing up to two 4" timbers together. That's very probably the most I'll ever need it for Can you recommend a nail gun for under £150 please, or would I need to spend more?
