Suggestions for Cellar Floor (damp proofing)

Yes - I would have loved to be able to do the proper dimpled floor membrane, then screen/board but the ceiling height is just not there unfortunately. It's already only 1800mm. The membrane is fixed to the walls using these little fellas: I think I'm leaning towards using something like...

Suggestions for Cellar Floor (damp proofing)

There is no DPM under the slab The slab itself is not in direct contact with the walls, but does sit directly on the soil/clay This sort of arrangement - The space between the channel and the slab has been re-filled with concrete

Suggestions for Cellar Floor (damp proofing)

I've spent the last few months working on damp proofing our cellar (house is ~1850s) and I'm wondering what's going to be the best way to finish the floor. Plan is for a bit of a home cinema / playroom. I'm pretty satisfied with the walls now - I've used 8mm dimpled membrane all the way...

700 mm sandstone wall, how to cut hole

Sorry to hijack this thread, but it's kinda related... How easy/possible is it to cut a shallow channel in a solid standstone wall? Probably 50mm wide+deep. Do-able?

Best place to buy basement drainage channel?

I need about 23 meters of basement perimeter drainage channel - can anyone reccomend somewhere to get it from at a reasonable price? Most places online seem quite dear, considering what it is...

    Using a 2-stroke saw in a cellar

Happy to report that a 9" 110v grinder is doing quite a nice job of this and keeping it a bit damp is going wonders for the dust (bring careful with the electric!)

    Using a 2-stroke saw in a cellar

The house is about 150 years old I think - cellar has a couple of inches of water in it at one end for probably half the year

    Using a 2-stroke saw in a cellar

That had crossed my mind... is it likely to be expensive? There's probably about 23 linear meters in total

Thanks - I think I'll give the grinder a go first and see how it goes.

    Using a 2-stroke saw in a cellar

So... I've decided this year's DIY project will be converting our damp cellar into a man-cave/cinema room. I've done lots of research and I'm reasonably happy with my plan (drainage channels, dimpled membranes, sump etc). My first job is digging out 10-15cm channel around the perimeter in...

Looking for a firm for a substantial project in Manchester

Ah yes, that could be a little annoying! Our door access system is hooked into the fire alarm, so all the doors unlock when it goes off

Looking for a firm for a substantial project in Manchester

Its actually just a boring light switch I'm afraid. Not sure why the CPC wasnt sleved and connected to the back box when that picture was taken, but I've just been to check it and its connected to the backbox now, so thats ok I guess? :) We're on Trafford Park rather than over at the Media...

Does an FCU need isolating before connecting appliance?

Success :D Its actually for one of those little wall mounted network cabinets to power the switch. Not entirely sure why they put an FCU rather than a socket though... Job done :)
