Vaillant 831: CH stopped DHW ok

S.0 means there is no demand into the boiler. Timer/room stat fault. To confirm this put a link between terminals 3 and 4 on the PCB. If all this is alien to you just get an RGI in.

Ideal ConcordeWCF-255A - not firing up

Your neon screw driver only tells you that a live is there, you also need a neutral. You'd need a multimeter to check that. Check resistance through the solenoid, compare the two gas valves. You also need a multimeter for this. There's little else you can do really. I have to add that...

Ideal Icos m30 80 showing demand?

Sounds like you have an Isar not an Icos, is it a combi?

    central Heating Pump Size

Who said anything about 28mm pipe? Not sure what you mean.

    central Heating Pump Size

Do you mean 25/80? I suggested that earlier. Is it a sealed system? You can't just stick pumps anywhere on the circuit, fine if you can get them off the main flow but access might not be possible.

    central Heating Pump Size

This is mostly irrelevant, all depends on the system size.

    central Heating Pump Size

Worcester recommend 22mm on some of their 40kw boilers? Or do you mean that they recommend 22mm minimum?

    central Heating Pump Size

    Ha Why? For or against?!

    central Heating Pump Size

22mm pipework from a 40kw boiler is undersized, you need to fit a Grundfos 25/80.

British Gas Homecare - Free Boiler Replacement - Choices

Can't understand why they've suggested an Ideal, they get a better deal on Worcester. If you wanted to supply your own boiler they can fit it as an upgrade (this will make sense to whoever you're dealing with. You've done well to get a new boiler out of them.

    Anyine use Hilti gear?

Yea the TE4. Don't get me wrong, it is good, but I'd expect it to blitz my Dewalt!

    Anyine use Hilti gear?

Yea I did, seems a nice fella. I've got the 22v SDS too, got to say I'm a bit disappointed with it! Tried it side by side with my old dewalt 18v SDS and the dewalt was much quicker. Not sure whether to take it back and tell Les.

    Anyine use Hilti gear?

Just bought an SDS and combi drill in a kit, heard good things so I took the plunge! It's expensive but I'm hoping it'll last till retirement and I'm 31 :D Also just bought a Marcrist ddm2 core drill and cores, also heard good things but not had chance to use it yet. Anyone used this stuff?

    worcester 9.24 pcb urgently required

It's a whole £10, Tony! A customer can't go to a "competent independent", they can only go to an "independent". There is only an educated guess, at best, as to whether or not an engineer is "competent" even if he/she does specialise in breakdowns. If only it was so simple!

Ideal Icos HE12 heat exchanger disintegrating?

It's common on these boilers to find grey sludge in the sump and trap. It needs a good clean out and combustion test, as long as it's working and is safe just leave it. These boilers aren't great to be honest but no sense in changing it unless it's causing you trouble.

    problem with CH

The water doesn't need to be 65c, 50c will do fine and I bet that goes a long way to sorting it.

    problem with CH

What's the cylinder stat set to? Do you mean you set the CH valve manually open?
  19. Andygasman2010

    problem with CH

Try the pump speed and cyl stat first, save yourself the bother of fitting a gate valve for now.

    problem with CH

Nothing wrong with that! You should see my pipework ;)
