    Plastic Inspection Chamber Base Support

I would have thought you’d be best installing on a bed of pea shingle.

Maybe if we just knock that wall down.

Looks really good -the end is in sight!! What overall dimensions is the extension? I can’t see it on the thread but may have missed it? Looks similar to ours which is not as far on as yours. Our is something like 4m x 8.5m and will have three sliding glass doors on it so not too dissimilar.

    Prepaid Mastercard/ Visa Gift Cards

Use them for your food shop (I’ve done this) then “transfer” the money you would have spent on food to buy a gift for yourself.

    Permitted development question

PS. PD is 4m on a detached property as I understand? We went this far with ours and then had to get neighbour consent (formally) as we have a 1m canopy taking it to 5m in total.

    Permitted development question

This would fall under building regs as I understand it and you would have to ensure that the structure would need to be compliant with thermal/ insulation requirements as well as structural.

    Good work. Looks decent.

Wood flooring or Tile Coldness and underfloor heating

The same flooring in the kitchen / diner would work well - I’d go for tiles here but tempted to go carpet in the family room area although floor tiles through will allow the space to flow and feel bigger. The only down side is the noise / echo. Warmth wise “cold”is relative and they will...

How Long Do Glow Plugs Last For?

PS. On your dashboard when you turn the key to position II - ignition on but not trying to star the car, you should get a glow plug light on the dash. See how long it takes to go out. When out, the van should start.

How Long Do Glow Plugs Last For?

You probably have 4 glow plugs in your van and the symptoms may mean that at least one of them has failed and the remaining ones struggle to start the van in the cold. If you are mechanically competent/confident then changing them is relatively straight forward (access is usually the issue) as...

Removing mortar from window without scratching

It’s gone Liberal dose of soap solution to soak then power wash and repeat. Final bit was to scrape residue off with edge of a plastic card and all done. Cheers all

    Wardrobe sliding doors issue

Yes, two options. Make the opening bigger or get smaller doors. I suppose there is a third... Could you bring the wardrobe track forward in front of the chimney breast and wall mounted TV so that it covers all of that space? You can then have the TV behind the wardrobe doors when not in use...

    Wardrobe sliding doors issue

Well they’ll overlap by 43cm which is more than normal but more importantly when one side is fully open you’ve only got 26cm width for putting clothes in/out. That sounds a bit tight IMO.

Reckon this is really her owner ?

Richard Bacon made this similar comparison on Question Time last night when talking about Trump and the American political system. Quite poignant.

Removing mortar from window without scratching

Hi Noticed today we have a couple of small blobs/splashes of cement mortar on our window adjacent to where the rear extension is being built. Builder wasn’t planned to be on site today for me to ask, so I was wondering what is best to use to remove these without scratching the glass and I’ll...

Hormann Supermatic II garage door operator - obstruction sensitivity

This is the same opener as we have. The electric operator needs to relearn the travel and resistances. It is trying to close and thinks something is in the way. To do this you need to do a reset and the door will then find it’s correct travel. It might take more than one go...
