    Packing out new door frame...

Hi all, Just fit a new internal door frame into a brick wall. There is about a 6" gap between the header and the lintel and a varying sized gap down each side where it has been packed out. What's the best material to pack it out with? Someone suggested expandable foam, but I'm concerned...

    Downstairs Bathroom

I'm about to have a timed extractor fan installed in the newly built downstairs bathroom. The fan will be controlled from the switch outside the room and routed via a tripple pole fan isolation switch. Will a FCU also be required, or is the isolation switch enough?

Cheers for that Scooby. Well I had another sparky in today. This one from another company. He did a couple of things. First off, he moved my garage connection to the non RCD side of the CU, as the garage has it's own CU with MCB's installed. Secondly, he identified an incorrectly...

There is a metal bar to the side of the meter with a bare wire running to it from the meter and a chunky earth wire running into the CU. Does that mean it's a TT installation?

Thanks for your help guys. Damocles, The sockets now seen to have been sorted... This was due to a neutral/earth leak on the connection unit connected to the cooker hud. As for the lights, both circuits are wired into the NON RCD protected side to enable the lights to continue to work...

Sorry, the following comment should have read; NOT always... It would also appear that on some occasions, when the cocker isolation switch is toggled, this will also trip the switch, but now always.

I see. Certainly sounds logical enough. Did I mention the fact that sometimes you can switch the lights on and off several times before the RCD trips!!! Other times it will do it constantly. As I said before, it only appears to be affecting the kitchen and Hall way/landing lights. I'm...

Thank's for the quick response. That's an interesting point. I would hope to god that he would know better than that. As far as the CU installation goes, it was a straight swop with an old 6 way Wylex. Three down lighters where installed about a week ago, but other than that no additional...
