loft boards safe to walk on?

Many thanks yandownie. I've noticed them flex a little bit. I prefer my gf to walk around on them than me just to be sure (not saying I'd rather she fell through the roof than me, she's quite a bit lighter :))

loft boards safe to walk on?

I assumed they were but have read conflicting information on searches of the net. My house was built in 1991 and is a mid terrace. The joists are 9.4cm deep and 3.3cm wide, generally 56.5cm apart. I have boards which either lay across three joists or two and at one end might rest on strips of...

    Loft insulation advice needed please

Many thanks galliano2001. Much appreciated. The other thing I was thinking about is that foam that you can apply to the inside of the roof that would also insulate the loft space. I read that it can be sprayed on? Not sure if that would help at all or not?

    Loft insulation advice needed please

Hi all, I've just been told at B&Q I need more loft insulation and they have rolls for £5. I already have a layer of yellow fluffy stuff which I think is rockwool. I measured the height of th joists as 100mm, the existing insulation pretty much is the same depth as the joists. Should I buy...

what sort of loft insulation have I got?

I thought it was fibreglass but I've heard there's another type which is more modern and less harmful. The house was built in 1991 and the insulation in the loft is like yellowy/white fluffy wool but doesn't seem to irritate my hands or leave tiny glass type splinters if I touch it. Can someone...

novice boarding the loft in need of help

Hi all, I've finally got round to having a go at this but when I did I realised it wasn't quite as simple as I thought. Here goes... Next to the loft hatch three tongue and groove loft boards were already down which were flush with the edge of the hatch. Some other boards were up there...

Many thanks again for your help; really appreciated. I wouldn't doubt at all that you definitely know your stuff! I will keep my eye on the pressure setting to make sure it's ok. It's only one radiator that needed some air bled out and it stopped coming out after a little while but no...

Help...Glow-worm Hot Water Express 80 not heating anymore...

YEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! Found it... Surprising what's in the cupboard under the sink... Found a knob that looked like the one in the picture. Couldn't see the rest of the pipes though, had to get in there with a torch, right in the corner directly under the boiler (in the...

Help...Glow-worm Hot Water Express 80 not heating anymore...

Cheers guys, thanks loads for the help. Wouldn't have believed I'd be getting help from Cuba or Antarctica! Sorry to seem like I'm casting aspersions about the heating engineer thing. It's purely through no experience of these things and watching a prog last week ironically! Bit hard...

Help...Glow-worm Hot Water Express 80 not heating anymore...

Hi all, Please excuse any ignorance of general knowledge of heating systems, this is my first house, I've only been here since May... Basically, I have the above mentioned combi boiler which over summer has worked fine, always produced hot water when needed. Now it is getting colder, I...

Glow Worm Hot Water Express 80 - knob stuck

Hi all, Hoping someone might be able to advise on this one. I've just had the pleasure at last of buying my own house and in it I have a Glow Worm boiler in the kitchen. For some reason it is switched to Central Heating and Hot Water (winter) and will not switch to Hot Water only...
